Ehh...I've somewhat been reduced to shitty poetry and an occasional painting. So I doubt you're in very bad shape.

Fun to play with but it doesent look too physically accurate. Cool anyway though.

It's not exactly supposed to be physically accurate, but thanks anyway

UTGrim In reply to antihem [2006-08-18 02:59:11 +0000 UTC]

I don't know. I mean, it's basic trig, so you could just look it up or something. Not that I don't want to do it, but I've been very busy lately. Sorry

woo i love this 3d movement stuff, can someone please teach me vectors!
got any suggestions of where i should start for some tutorials/sample code?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

UTGrim In reply to titanius [2006-08-03 04:04:43 +0000 UTC]

It's not actually 3D. I really wish I could code that

A vector basically has magnitude and direction, or in this case, velocity and angle.

I made a vector class in Flash. I guess I should post it or something.

titanius In reply to UTGrim [2006-08-04 11:49:06 +0000 UTC]

yea, please do! i thought i must've been 3d to get the way they fall down toward the screen

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

UTGrim In reply to titanius [2006-08-04 14:24:35 +0000 UTC]

It's posted.

Nah, it's entirely 2D. 3D would have been awesome. I looked at some tuts for 3D in C++, but I don't get the math at all. Way too complicated. Something about matrices...

titanius In reply to UTGrim [2006-08-05 12:28:23 +0000 UTC]

ah, i see how you did it now... i've been reading quite a bit of other people's code lately and i'm finding that i have a really crude coding style, i started by adding code to movieclips and never really got over it i can code very neatly in BASIC but i haven't taken the time to clean up my actionscript.

Thanks for the class, i think i'll probably end up writing my own (lol my ego, can't use someone else's code) but thanks anyway

O yea, btw i saw a book today titled "Animating with actionscript" and it had all these really cool physics engines (yes 3D too), unfortunately the price tag was a little large ($79AU)... i reckon i might go back and copy down some of that code tho
