Ran the mile no shoes
If the sun goes down too soon

You made it, made it through
You made it, made it through, oh

Personality:
Summary
Raella has closed her heart off entirely from most, but at the same time, she wears it on her sleeve. She is prone to hiding things about herself, but when flustered and upset, her unfiltered words may suggest the truths she's carefully avoided. She is intelligent, but her careless actions can give her a naive, childish character. However, she is passionate in all of her work, always pushing herself to improve upon who she is. Raella is, above all, genuinely good.
Determined & Hardworking
When faced with something she wishes to obtain, Raella will go to extremes in order to achieve it. She wields her optimism as a shield that will always protect her, and eventually let her find a way out of a sticky situation, and she has never lacked in motivation. When doing her job, she will put all of her effort into doing that job correctly, and won't stop until she's burned herself out.
Good & Honorable
There's not a single soul on the face of the earth that Raella won't speak to. She holds no prejudices against any wolf unless there are real reasons for being against them. She has a very strong moral compass, and will never allow another to suffer because of her (or anyone). Raella will do what is right, and is rarely swayed by another's opinion. However, she is not the kindest of wolves. She doesn't always have nice words to say, may tease or insult a wolf that she's had bad dealings with, or may be outright rude. That doesn't change the fact that she would lay down her life at any given moment for a packmate.
Bold & Curious
Never one to back away from the unknown, Raella has an insatiable appetite for adventure. Back in the days of puphood, she would often be taken out of the pack's camp for walks just so she would quit jabbering. She can never sit still, always fidgeting, and this makes her a poor listener.
Fiery
With a tongue sharp as a whip and a stubborn attitude that can rival a bear's, opposition can quickly lead to Raella losing her temper. While never outright violent, her temperament can be volatile when she's been poked at one too many times. When sour words are aimed toward anyone she cares about (for example, Icarus), Raella will get up in the culprit's face with little warning, and won't back down until they've been put in their place.
Candid
Raella was never gifted with the ability to give outright lies. Even when something seems dishonest, there's always a hint of a truth there. Sure, she can redirect a conversation to avoid more uncomfortable topics, and she's capable of hiding things, but she has many tics that are obvious when she's under pressure. She is direct and sincere in most of her actions, which leaves little room for being untruthful. When you want to know something, you just have to know what question to ask.
Guarded
Contrary to the fact that she's generally forthcoming, certain questions will make her close off and abruptly change the subject. She's rarely direct about her past, often making up a small story to hide the fact that her past wasn't grand. She never speaks of her sister, or how she really feels; this leads to a lot of questions as to who she really is, and it'd take a lot of trust for her to be able to divulge that kind of information. For now, she hides behind a veneer of smiles and gracious words as a coping method, keeping her sadness on the shelf furthest away.
Uninhibited
What do you mean, social etiquette? Prone to interrupting even the most important wolves in her pack, Raella doesn't let silly old-fashioned rules stop her from speaking her mind. She can be seen as audacious and loud-mouthed by those that only know her from a distance, or confident and bold by others more acquainted with the she-wolf. In reality, she's never quite had the common sense about when and where she should speak her mind, and this trait has been carried by her since she was a pup.
Reckless
Raella often sticks her nose where it definitely shouldn't belong, and this doesn't only pertain to another wolf's business. She throws caution to the wind on a daily basis, preferring to live life in the present or past and never quite looks at the consequences of her actions. Her recklessness is a common theme in her history, having led to the death of a family member and the maiming of another. After her sister's death, Raella has become even worse than before - she is careless in her actions, and rarely holds any sort of remorse for them unless another soul comes under the line of fire.
Pre-Group History:
Raella was born to Aldric and Nia at the very end of fall. The two had very little to do with Raella's parenting, and left most of it to her other relatives, which left her being raised by the pack as a whole. Raella had one sister, Eudocia, that was older than her by two years, and a brother-in-law called Orion. The pack itself was made up of only those related or bound by mates, and while they were very close-knit, the large pack could get rather hectic when the seasons started to get colder. Spring would always be a blessing. At the very beginning of summer, Eudocia was blessed with a pup that she would christen Icarus. While spirits soared high, it was apparent to many that the group was beginning to fall apart, as relatives began to break away in search of better findings. Aldric and Nia were two of those that decided to leave, though because they had distanced themselves from Raella after she was able to fend for herself, she couldn't find it in her to be sorrowful.
Eight moon-turns later, in late winter, the pack had become weak from a lack of proper food. Elk herds had moved on to different territories, avoiding their normal route, which in turn caused a pack-wide starvation. Tensions were high, as wolves were often exhausted from trekking long distances in order to find more sources of prey, causing violence to break out. The pack was forced to move on. Raella, being a juvenile wolf, could do very little hunting-wise; her sister and her brother-in-law did most of the hard work, along with the six cousins that still remained. This left Raella in charge of her nephew, Icarus, and while the young he-wolf couldn't always stand his aunt's cheery mood, Raella tried hard to let him see the brighter side of things. "It wasn't always like this," she told him, regaling him with tales of the old days.
When winter finally drew to a close, one elderly cousin had disappeared after taking off in the middle of the night. After that, a domino effect took place; the remaining cousins took off, seeking refuge in the south, and Raella was alone with Eudocia, Icarus, and Orion. While the pressure of more mouths had been lifted from their shoulders, the small group was well and truly alone. There were no wolves for miles that they knew of, and while the young deer in the area made for easy meals, all were weary of travel. While Raella had remained in the good graces of Orion, he would no longer take her on the long walks with Icarus that she loved. His relationship with Eudocia had become strained and violent, and Raella did her best to avoid calling attention to herself at those times, lest Orion take out his frustrations on her instead. The she-wolf would never be able to understand what had happened to the two. She had believed they were as love-struck as a pair could be, even with Orion's stoic way of presenting himself. Eudocia was quiet and gentle, never had a bad word to say - yet Orion had become unhinged.
This had lasted for a moon-turn before they were forced to leave Orion behind. Night had fallen, and the four wolves had settled in a camp; Orion rested a short distance away. Raella and Icarus slept soundly, though Eudocia's words soon roused them. "Get up, quickly, we're leaving," she had whispered, voice urgent. Raella never questioned it. After Icarus had woken up, the she-wolf would look back at the black wolf that she'd called brother, already mourning his loss. When Eudocia turned away, Orion's eyelids would part, and those orange eyes would slowly glide across Eudocia's retreating form before finally resting on Raella's face indifferently. Does he feel anything for us anymore?
Days afterward, Eudocia had returned to her former self, though Raella saw under the mask she put on for the younger ones. She had lost all she had known, with the exception of her sister and her son, and Raella didn't believe it for an instant. "We're going to the river. Icarus, you'd like that, wouldn't you?" She would say cheerfully, and Raella would be taken aback. Eudocia had never once wanted to take Icarus anywhere near danger. However, giddiness bloomed beneath her chest, and Raella would happily say that even if Icarus didn't, she'd love it. After bumping her nephew's shoulder, Raella would take off down the hill toward the slow-churning green water. Clumps of trees obscured the view after they passed a certain point, but Raella pressed on ahead, despite Eudocia's warnings to be careful. There was a weird smell, something that tickled the back of her neck, but Raella was at the river - who cared about weird smells?
To her surprise, Icarus hadn't been far behind, and the brown wolf ran straight into her hindquarters, bumping Raella off-balance. She toppled into the water, eyes wide and surprised, sending up an enormous splash in her wake. After a few panicky moments of not knowing which way was up or down she would emerge, albeit several yards downstream. Raella nearly hacked up a lung, spewing water from her nose and mouth, and with a toss of her head and a snort that would wake the dead, the dark she-wolf would recover.
But something was off. Icarus had left the riverbank, and Eudocia was nowhere to be found; the thick foliage obscured her view of the two wolves, and while that normally wouldn't have struck her as something to be worried about, she remembered that scent. She didn't know what it was, of course, but a wolf's instincts always knew what was best, didn't they?
And then she heard it. A squeal of pain, louder than any she'd ever heard, had her heart pounding hard beneath her chest. Without a thought, the she-wolf would bound toward the river bank, not pausing to shake herself free of the water. "Icarus? Eudocia? Where are you?" Branches cut across her face, thorns tugged at her pelt, and all she could think of was her little nephew's broken body. "Raella!" There was a clearing ahead, and a flurry of motion; something just as large as a wolf was snarling and spitting, and the coppery, acrid scent of blood permeated the woods. She burst into the clearing to find Eudocia struggling between the jaws of the cat, barely noticing Icarus's cowering form; her only thought was to save her, to do anything, to not let this stupid beast take her sister away from her - but her limbs wouldn't move.
Eudocia was in her death throes. Blood stained the soil and grass beneath Eudocia's writhing, jerking body, and while Raella's whole self heaved with the force of her breathing, the cat had killed her sister by the time Raella took a step forward. She could do nothing, helpless as the cat took her sister into the forest, a trail of blood in its wake. In that instant, her world had toppled over, and she and Icarus were alone.
Icarus had taken a bad bite to his tail. While Raella tried her best to heal it with medicinal herbs (though she knew very few), an infection had set in. Raella was forced to bite it off to avoid a blood infection.
Months had passed, and the two had changed drastically. No matter how hard Raella tried to change Icarus's outlook on the world, he was angry at all that had happened to him, taking on an aggressive, pessimistic attitude. Raella became more withdrawn, rarely making any kind of comment, preferring to keep to herself. But she tried, she really did. She was able to teach herself and Icarus to hunt rabbits, and while they weren't the best meal, it was something. Slowly, Raella would begin to show a shadow of her former self, and her relationship with Icarus became unbreakable.
But tragedy had become a theme in their lives. An almighty earthquake had thrown the entire world into chaos, ripping trees up by their roots and destroying the cliffs and mountains. It changed the entire face of the world in a moment. In all the panic, Raella became separated from Icarus. Aftershock after aftershock kept her from searching the way she wanted to, but when they finally subsided, Icarus was well and truly gone. She looked for days, rarely sleeping - but eventually, she was forced to go to the distant forest that they'd been heading to before the earthquake. There was a single mountain there, and she'd been told of a pack that resided near it, long ago. Dawnguard.
Though the journey was soul-sucking and lonely, Raella couldn't let her hopes down. Even after she joined, she kept waiting - he would be there soon, she knew. The Gods weren't done with him yet.

Trivia:
- Raella despises wolves that use their pasts as an excuse for evil actions. Life is what you make of it; if you choose to be angry, you will stay angry, and that is your fault alone.
- There is no one more important to Raella than Icarus. This will never change if she's in a relationship, as her nephew has always come first in her mind.
- Despite being a witness to many violent acts and killings, Raella always has on a happy face, and she has come to believe that she is happy, despite being far from it.
- Raella's favorite color is blue, like the sky on clear days.
- Nothing brings her more joy than making someone else laugh.

Hi! She's so beautiful, and her backstory isn't vomit, it's very interesting! I would absolutely love to RP her with Asterion (lunarshadowcreations.deviantar… ).
Aster tends to mistrust wolves who come from outside of Dawnguard, but I think it could be really interesting if he found out that she had been separated from Icarus, and how close she had been to her nephew. It could really give him a new outlook on newcomers~
Let me know if you're interested, I'll send a starter note if you like. ^^
