Description

Imp-like creatures that dwell in darkness, living together in packs, all huddled together. They have translucent glowing skin, sort of like moon jellies in the night—beware that subtle glow when exploring the dark woods. When they spot their victims, they will continuously stare them down with a piercing gaze that paralyses and drains the vitality of their prey, so long as they look back. Thus, they come in swarms, surrounding prey so they have nowhere else to look. And if all else fails, they can throw their large bulbous heads, which have weight and density comparable to an iron ball, and retract and connect it back to their bodies with a long, inky black tendril that reaches out from its neck. Attacking the head is futile: they have tough skin, a thick skull, and hardened unblinking eyes resistant to impact, and trying will most probably get you downed. The tendril however, is soft and easily torn, and destroying it severs the connection between the head and the body, leaving both helpless.
