It shouldn't be touching the edges. However, if it's still too close, copy the < div class="pppp" > part from the end and just paste it again. I don't recommend doing it too often though, as it will mess with the width on small screens as well.

curious about this, i did this method and it just ends up adding extra padding to the top of the box and stretching the height and pages. is there any way to shorten the width of the content boxes without adding extra space to the top?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Valognir In reply to VCR-WOLFE [2017-02-07 11:57:08 +0000 UTC]

Sounds like you have some knowledge on the matter, so allow me to explain it with some technical details~

I have yet to find a class that lets me alter the width without adding to the top or bottom or have other stupid side effects. Coding on dA is weird like that... And then there's compatibility. If I were to find a class with, say, only a padding for left and right - which would be exactly what you're probably looking for - it would make the box rediculously thin on small resolution displays, like mobiles, since I can't really set a minimum width...

So, sorry to disappoint you, but if I ever find a more convenient solution, I'll make sure to update this code!

Does this code still work now? I'm putting it in but nothing but my background appears anywhere. The none background version works fine, but the one with background just puts my background weirdly to the left and no text appears. I may be doing something wrong and can't figure out what...

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Valognir In reply to Kiwi-Ink [2016-04-19 01:15:18 +0000 UTC]

Hm, that doesn't sound like any problem I have encountered so far. I might have to take a look at it and ask you to reproduce the problem.
Would you mind leaving the non-working code on your page for a view hours until I reply again?

Any way to not end up with a scroll box for this?Ā

As mentioned in the description, you have to adjust the bold number to fit your content.

NummyPixels In reply to ??? [2016-04-02 22:36:00 +0000 UTC]

Whenever I try to use this it turns my whole custom box into a scrolling widget and none of the actual inner/content holder boxes actually get bigger. Is there a way to fix that??

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Valognir In reply to NummyPixels [2016-04-02 22:47:00 +0000 UTC]

If there is none, I will find one. Mind adding the code so I can check what's causing you trouble?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

NummyPixels In reply to Valognir [2016-04-02 22:50:31 +0000 UTC]

Ty! And yeah, no problem.

I used this coding:

orig00.deviantart.net/7f6c/f/2… ">

orig12.deviantart.net/c715/f/2… ">

pre11.deviantart.net/9230/th/p… "/>

img01.deviantart.net/0332/i/20… "align="middle"/>

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Valognir In reply to NummyPixels [2016-04-02 23:00:06 +0000 UTC]

That happens because you use the no background version... and then try to force a background into it anyway. ^^ If you want to use a background image as well as this code, I suggest using the first code that already includes a background image code.

someone help me plz!!! ive tried to edit my featured deviantation at least a millions times and nothing works, either the image gets bigger that it cuts off, you can only see half of the image, or just the background and majority of the time the background doesnt stretch to fit the box at all! someone help plz!!!!

Valognir In reply to Alexisrules14 [2016-04-02 22:55:08 +0000 UTC]

I'm here to help, but I'd appreciate less exclamation marks... xD
I guess you are having trouble with the image width. If you add an image to a widget using this code, try adding "width=100%" to the img code like this: <img width="100%" src="link">
As for your background problem, you might have to use an image that actually has a fitting size. You could use the above trick, but that will result in your background becoming very short on small resolutions. To get a kind of preview of smaller resolutions, try shrinking your browser window until the content of each box doesn't get smaller. This will be what your page looks like on mobile devices.

Valognir In reply to Alexisrules14 [2016-04-02 23:35:30 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that's what you mean. Well, for one, you don't just place your background in the conent area. ^^ You will want to use the standard version, right under "Code" and look for the part that I wrote in bold "Your background url here". That's where your background image link goes. Then the box has a background. But I'll probably have to disappoint you. Any background code will overlap the deviation. You can, however, manually add it again by using the img code with a direct link to your deviation.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Alexisrules14 In reply to Valognir [2016-04-02 23:53:12 +0000 UTC]

manually? i did put the background image in the " image link" , im not rlly familar with all this coding stuff...i've seen ppl with backgrounds on their featured deviantations so there has to be a way

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Valognir In reply to Alexisrules14 [2016-04-03 08:35:34 +0000 UTC]

As I said, there is a way, but the picutre which you choose via the widgets options doesn't show. Also, you did not put the background link where it says so in the code. I saw your code... ;D

I'm bad at explaining, so I'll just put the code together for you.

<div class="stream"><div class="popup2-moremenu"><div class="floaty-boat"><img width="1000" src="http://orig02.deviantart.net/9105/f/2016/090/a/3/free_custom_box_background___pink_polka_dots_by_ri_by_sonalover-d9x7b78.png"></div></div><img width="1200" src="http://orig00.deviantart.net/7f6c/f/2016/036/2/3/stretcher_3_by_daemon_illusionum-d9nvsaz.png"><div class="inputblocker blt-ad-container daembed gmfrozen" align="justify"><img width="100%" src="http://orig12.deviantart.net/c715/f/2015/277/2/5/stretcher_by_daemon_illusionum-d9bzcno.png"><div class="pppp" align="center"><img width="80%" src="http://orig01.deviantart.net/0180/f/2016/086/3/c/smokey_lungs_by_alexisrules14-d9wpwzd.jpg">

Great code and thanks for sharing it may I ask if there a similar code to make your image as big large as you want it to AND to keep the regular small content boxes though? Do you know what I mean?
I tried that over and over with one of my costum boxes but failed unfortunately XD Any ideas are very welcome and appreciated!

Thanks for this! It really sucks dA made it so the other workarounds don't work anymore - this is a pretty good workout all things considered! I don't mind the tiny custom boxes on most things, but on some things it just looks like crap. You're a lifesaver!

pigeon In reply to Valognir [2016-03-20 03:39:36 +0000 UTC]

Nah, it works! The only downside is what one other commenter said about the resizing of the windows - background images don't move fluidly with it and it can leave a gap in the widget towards the bottom. But there's nothing you can do about that. I hope dA will update things again so we can get a much simpler fix like in the past!

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Valognir In reply to pigeon [2016-03-22 07:57:31 +0000 UTC]

I changed a little something in the code so the background image won't adjust to 100% width. That should kind of fix the problem.

glitcher In reply to ??? [2016-02-19 14:32:11 +0000 UTC]

It's not bad, but I'm seeing a problem with this already. The "img width" value (i.e. box height) only works for one specific browser window size. A box height that looks perfect on a large window will have a lot of empty space underneath in a small window. See this example:

The width of the image in the center is scaled to 90% of the box width. However, the box height doesn't adjust to the window size, so you end up with a lot of empty space underneath, regardless of whether you set the "img width" value in pixels or percent. How do I fix this so that the box height ends after the content?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Valognir In reply to glitcher [2016-02-19 22:08:05 +0000 UTC]

Sadly, there currently is no solution to that problem.
The coding deviantart allows is extremely limited. And as they "disabled" the old way to stretch custom boxes, this became the only somewhat reliable solution I could find. I'm sorry.
