Description
Doctor Kitty works alone, but she didn't always. In the beginning, she had her assistant, a bright, intelligent and ambitious girl who supported her and stuck with her even after her unfortunate transformation. The first project Kitty implemented after "inheriting" the facility that held the transformation equipment was a mutagen dispersal booth that would allow her to become human again. In reality, it was little more than a sealed shower booth with reinforced glass meant to contain the chemicals that would be used. Considering the extra strength her transformation gave her, Kitty didn't want to risk shattering the containment if the process went awry.
The big day arrived. Kitty had isolated a blend of mutagenic chemicals that would be sufficient to reverse her transformation, and her assistant was there to help her measure out the mix and load the pumps. Kitty checked her calculations one last time, as she didn't want to take any risks. Her life and humanity was on the line.
But as she checked over her notes, the sound of the pumps being activated caused her feline ears to perk up. Kitty dropped her notes and sprinted towards the lab. She arrived just as the booth closed over her assistant, and the countdown to the dispersal began.
Kitty pounded on the glass, but her precautions got the better of her. Barely a crack formed from the force of her strikes, and her claws, sharp as they were, barely gouged the surface. She looked up at her assistant. "Hold on!" she yelled. "I'll get you out!!!"
But her assistant looked back at her, not with fear, but with a demented glee that shook her to the bone. "Who said I wanted to get out!?!" her assistant yelled back as the chemical bath began. Kitty recognized the mutagens that were spraying over her, and it was not her cure. The effect was immediate. Her assistant's skin began to redden, as horns grew from her head, and a pair of arms erupted from her back, unfolding further and becoming a pair of leathery skinned wings. A long, prehensile tail grew from behind, flicking and coiling around legs that stretched and ended in a pair of digitigrade hooves. Through it all, there was the maniacal laughter coming from a newly fanged mouth, with eyes that burned Kitty to her core.
"Silly Kitty," the Succubus cooed, her voice muffled by the thick glass. "You got quite the gift, but you wanted to just throw it away!? Well, I won't let you!!!" With that, she unfurled her wings, and tore her way out of the booth, knocking Kitty aside. She crossed the lab in long strides and took the canister of the cure formula that they had worked on together. "And I won't let you rob me of this either!" she screamed as she hurled the cure at the wrecked booth. The canister shattered, and the formula, the only amount they had ever made, mixed into the spilled mutagen, ruining it forever.
The newly mutated Succubus ran a hand over her wings, admiring them for a moment, before spreading them and taking to the air. Smashing through a roughly fixed portion of the dilapidated building's roof, she disappeared into the night sky, her laughter echoing in the distance.
Left behind, Doctor Kitty doubled over, heavy sobs rocking her body as she collapsed to the floor. Her cure was lost, her only trusted friend has abandoned her. The betrayal cut her deep, the latest of many, and the resolve was building within her. Her humanity wasn't worth it anymore.
And if her life was marked by betrayal, Kitty would fix it through revenge.
I seriously doubt that I have enjoyed working on a piece as much as I have on this one. Mainly because it's probably the closest I've ever gotten to having the art look to what I wanted to do in my head. The feeling is SO awesome.
