Description Name: Marvis "Scorch" Cyler
Age: 21
Species: Red Panda
Personality: Stern, calm, and serious while secretly nerdy, thoughtful, and crafty
What inspired them to join: Awhile ago, Scorch discovered the remains of the Egg Carrier and hit upon a business idea with it. Scorch salvaged it, broke it down, and remade it in his own design making it a sky carrier capable of vast amounts of cargo hauling, military operations, cruising, and he even made a chao garden so his ship can serve as a mobile distribution center to transport chao to appropriate shops so the can be adopted. But like all new business, he needs to advertise his business so he can make contracts and agreements to get his business going.

Welp, I decided to join (and not a moment too late, gonna work off that procrastination and last minute decision making). Hopefully I can make it far this round. My personal reason for joining this is mainly to motivate myself to draw more and step up my game (winning is kinda secondary).

ALRIGHT WELP we've got us a crack ship prompt thing to work on for this round of the pageant. You can find Fringe's bio here, and his pageant entry here. Just a few things;

-Alter Fringe's design however you like, as long as he's reacognizable. If I'd know n other people might be called to draw him, I would've entered a simpler design.

-I GUESS WE'VE GOTTA COME UP WITH A SHIP SITUATION NOW. So I was thinking, both our muses tend to be fairly serious, so maybe a simple serious restaurant theme, or some other formal date would be a good way to show them off. We could also play off of their differences - a fiery creature and an aquatic animal, one grand and showy and one reserved and quiet, yours a proud and grand business person and mine a polite and introverted farmer. There's a lot to play off of there. We could work around the same situation if you want, or just come up with our own scenarios.

Does my interpretation sound about accurate, or is there some character profile for Scorch I could look over? I'm just shooting some ideas out while I'm in the writing zone

Your right, there is a lot to play off this. But there is one big issue that I might need to address, Scorch is not gay. He has nothing against anyone who is but it's not his style. But then again he wasn't exactly looking for a relationship in this pageant to begin with. So, this is going to be super awkward for Scorch with virtually no romantic knowledge to back him up. I think of your idea about the restaurant is a good idea for a starter. I'm thinking a awkward date to start off then Scorch will probably at some point bring up the "I don't swing that way" shtick (whether he relays that message well or not depends, I probably prefer whatever is more humorous) then the date will go in one of two directions.

1. Fringe won't take it well and storm out with Scorch trying to apologize but failing nevertheless. Then later, as Fringe is walking away from the store and gets in a situation with some street thugs or something (I don't know, does Fringe have any enemies?) which could be caused out of nowhere of he finds someone in trouble and defends them. He holds them off then backup goons or the big boss arrives. Things start becoming more difficult for Fringe till Scorch comes in to back him up and together they both win against the goons. After that, Scorch comes to fringe saying things along the lines of "we come on the wrong foot" and encourages Fringe to tell Scorch about himself so they become friends. (Probably a cheesy story but it was the first thing that popped in my head.

2. Fringe takes it in well and Scorch confess that he really isn't skilled in romance at all and this causes Fringe to head his story out or give romantic advice (or something) and this leads to more conversation that shows that they may have somethings in common.

I dunno, what do you think of these ideas? These just popped out of my head pretty quickly as soon as I learned what this round is about.

(By the way, how tall is Fringe? Sonic stands at 3 ft. tall and Scorch is 3"7".)

I think Fringe taking it well is definitely more likely. Honestly, I think that would lend itself to the shipping situation just fine. The date doesn't go great romantically, but we see the two of them getting along and giving one another advice anywys. Honestly, we could show Fringe giving him advice as kind of fluffy, and it would help it tie into the theme more.

So, what are you thinking for the actual entry? I was considering doing some kind of a comic page style thing showing interactions between the two. Would you think tying our two entries together somehow could help us have strong entries? If you don't want to go all the way with drawing a comic page, you could do some kind of a "cover" image, or something that fits more generally into the theme. Does any of this sound good to you?

(And I imagine Fringe standing at about Sonic's height)
