Voting is open: www.deviantart.com/deviation/5… . Remember that the winners will receive subscriptions and/or prints, so vote wisely. There will also be a random giveaway for a lucky voter.

The results of our ninth contest are in and the winner is... poolpen! Your entry will be placed in the club's account and you will be "Artist of the Month" for a month and then second place will receive the honor for the next month. Second place goes to DomNX and third place goes to Jules1983 . CONGRATULATIONS!!

For information on the current contest and the current club submission theme for this month, please look below.

The club passed the 600th member mark with abenoking ! abenoking , one of your vectors or vexels will be chosen and placed in the club gallery.

If you have not noticed yet, there is a Vexel section for submissions to deviantArt now.  Please read the "Vector Defined" section below for clarification on what is a vexel and what is a vector.

I am proud to announce a better feature of vectorlovers ... COLLABS! The collab rules are very simple...

1) At least half of the involved artists have to be members of vectorlovers .
2) One of the artists must send us a note with the subject of "COLLAB" and it should include links to the artists involved and the links of the collab image in their galleries (if they have uploaded to their gallery). You can also include who did what if you want.
3) Keep in touch with your collab partners.
4) Do your best!
5) HAVE FUN!!

Visit the forums to open a personal collab thread or comment on others: vectorlovers.deviantart.com/jo…

"Vector art consists of creating paths and points in a program such as Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw, [Inkscape] and Flash. These programs keep track of the relationships between these points and paths. Every time the image is scaled, the paths are regenerated: this creates images that are infinitely scalable without degradation." This has been extracted from the description of the vector gallery on deviantArt.

Art that contains both vector and raster art shoud not be submitted to the vector gallery as it is not entirely a vector. Art of this nature should be submitted to the Digital Art > Vexel gallery.

Raster art comes into play when using any brushes, filters, blending options (drop shadows, filters, glows, etc). Basically, any major post work you do in Photoshop other than creating paths using the pen tool and unsimplified shapes makes your vector a raster. Adding frames, watermarks, making color corrections and any other small postwork in Photoshop does not make your vector a raster. However, adding photographic elements to the image also makes it a raster image regardless of whether it was made in a vector program. The images made in raster programs and those that contain photographic elements are called vexels.

I hope that members and guests read this and recategorize their images accordingly. It would also help if you clarified your descriptions by stating the programs used and/or your process. Please note that this club will not accept any vector or vexel images primarily created with brushes and filters. If you are unsure of which gallery to submit your art, ask. You can note the club or the vector art gallery director Einion .

Vector/Vexel Scratch Test:
if you are confused about whether or not an image you created is a vector or a vexel, try this:

1. Open your source file. Make sure you open it in the program you made it in and that it has the corresponding file format. (This test is perfect to see if the image you made in Photoshop is actually a vector.)

2. Shrink your image to 20%, then blow it up to 400%, then shrink it to 50% and then resize it so its original size.

3. If it looks like shit, its a vexel. If it looks exactly the same as it did before, its a vector.

4. If you made your image in a vector program, open it in that program and see how long you can zoom in before you get tired.

The tenth contest will inspire old and new members to get back into the vectorlovers spirit. For this contest, all participants should create vectors or vexels representing rebirth or a new beginning. If you have any questions, please note the club and ask before you start your entry!

There are no regulations in size and only members of vectorlovers can enter. Regular submission standards do apply. Send the link to your contest entry in a note to the club with "CONTEST" as the subject. Only one (1) entry per member please. If you wish to update your contest entry before the end date, you can do so.

CONTEST STARTS: March 28th
CONTEST ENDS: April 24th

The winner will have the honor of being a featured artist of the month and their contest entry will be placed in the club's gallery. In the event of a winner that has won the previous contest, the AOTM feature will go to second place. Since we are working on a bimonthly system now, second (or third) place will receive the AOTM feature after the first month is complete.

As a special bonus for this contest, the top 3 winners will receive prizes... So do your best!

April marks another month of club submissions. The theme is Verbs suggested by e3rian . Vector or vexel anything that represents a verb. Have fun and remember: you can submit to the club as long as it's related to the theme! To submit something to the club just send a note with "VERB" as the subject. In the note, please include the link(s) to the deviation(s) in your gallery. Please submit no more than two (2) deviations. Your submissions will be added to the club gallery within three (3) days of receiving your note. If you would like to suggest a monthly theme, please go here: vectorlovers.deviantart.com/jo… .
