Description
Liven sat in camp taping the ground with one of her back paws. Eleka had assigned Callum her fellow blacksmith apprentice and her to gather firewood. It was safe to say she didn't like Callum. She still remembered when he had made her cry. She wasn't looking forward to working with him. She sighed as she felt the sun beat down on her and fiddled with the belt on her harness that was for carrying wood.
Callum wasn’t too fond of the red apprentice. She made the mistake of annoying him at one point, which led to her crying and him getting mad. Funnily enough, the blonde Serval wasn’t holding any grudges on her, just rather wished she wouldn’t do it again. He approached slowly, his shoulders relaxed and his tail hung at his knees. “Ready Liven?” He asked tentatively, making sure his voice wasn’t confrontational, but rather calm, in a seemingly teasing tone. Like he was asking a friend if they were ready to head out.
Liven nodded and got up her tail tip flicking. "Lets go" She said blankly, her eyes narrowed. She padded towards the entrance of camp. She didn't like his tone or him but she didn't want Eleka to get mad at them for not getting along. She would act cold to him to make sure he knew she didn't want to to talk to him at all.
Callum scoffed at the red cat’s attitude, ignoring it for the most part, and just followed her. If she continued like this, surely his patience would run thin with the younger feline. “Alright, well where would be like to go first,” Callum asked, kind of wanting to go to some kind of cave in Shadow Empire territory for minerals or somewhere known for having some good firewood the two could use.
Liven thought for a moment "Lets go to the ash grove. Eleka said its good fire wood" She said as they padded out of camp. "Its near the border" She said glancing back. She had seen it while on a walk with Eleka.
The blonde serval nodded, "Sure, let's go." The less words the better it seemed for the two of them. Less words to get misconstrued, so someone wouldn't get upset at whatever the other said. Callum held out a paw for Liven to lead the way, as it seemed she knew where she was going, so she'd be better at leading them to their destination.
Liven nodded and padded forward. She passed through the camp entrance and perked her ears listening for birds. She might be able to find some nice feathers while getting firewood, She padded forward keeping an eye out for feathers.
Callum was just as eager to start collecting things that he could use to make gifts for Asrai and Nadav, thinking a ornate flower design might look nice on both of them, though he wasn't too sure if they'd look great with him not being too skilled at carving just yet. But it's the thought that counts right? The blonde serval followed Liven, keeping his eye peeled for some good sticks the two could use to put into the forge to keep the fire going.
Liven didn't see any good sticks by them at the moment. This area was probably picked clean often. But she did see some traces of birds. No feathers though. It felt a bit weird to walk in silence but it was better this way. The sun beat down as she walked. Its heat seeping into her fur. she couldn't wait for it to rain. At least after they got the fire wood.
"Hey liven," Callum asked, breaking the momentary silence that befell them, "Do you remember when it flooded? Maybe we can find piles of sticks that were brushed away with the flood waters?" He knew the floods were strong, as when the serval had first joined Shadow, the lands were gone and still overflowing with deep waters that had yet to evaporate. He was certain the two could find piles of the dead sticks if they looked for where the water swept them away.
Liven narrowed her eyes when he mentioned the flood. That flood had been awful. "Yes I remember the flood" She stated her tail twitching. "I suppose we could '' She said trying to think about where they would have been swept to. She tried to recall where she'd seen some but she just couldn't remember. "Do you know where they are?" She asked Callum.
Callum walked a bit always from Liven, looking at the ground and patterns made by flowing water. “Liven, we could try looking at the incline of the land, we’re standing at a higher point,” He pointed his paws in a direction where the dirt started going down an incline, “if we follow that down as well as the ridges created by rain waters in the dirt and dead foliage, we can find piles of sticks that had been carried away.” It was at least a try, if anything they could find other interesting artifacts brushed away by the thrashing waters.
Liven nodded looking down towards the incline. She started padding down carefully not to slip on the dirt. She hated the feeling of the dirt here. It felt loose and reminded her of the flood. She growled as she almost tripped over a rock sticking out of the dirt.
The pale serval was surprised that she had agreed, perhaps even he had good ideas the female couldn’t resist, which made him smile slightly. She wouldn’t be ms.stuck-up anymore if she listened to him. Callum followed after her, allowing the silence to settle between the two once more as they carefully made their way through the loose dirt.
Liven noticed a few sticks lying around "There are some over here" She said and grabbed some of the bigger ones then put them in her bag. There were also a few overturned trees around along with the sticks.
The pale serval nodded before continuing to grab some of the large sticks strewn about. He collected a few in a pile, and then proceeded to take out a thick ribbon of leather, wrapping it carefully around the sticks. He rolled them on to the leather strand, and began tying it, allowing him to easily carry them all on his way back to camp.
Liven picked some sticks up and put it in her bag. Careful not to slip on the loose ground she picked up a few more sticks. Once she had filled in the bags she found one last stick that she could carry in her mouth. "I've got enough" She said and picked up the last stick.
Callum dipped his head down and bit down on the leather that held the pile of sticks together, and lifted up his stack. "Gok em" He said through a full mouth, ready to head on back to camp, now that they had the materials they had come out here for.
