I wanted to do something like that for a long time with my first painting of my "Samurai" [link]I am also considering of tattooing it to my arm /something like this version b&w with floral stuff all around/
anyways I like how this turned out.

Especially after seeing the original piece, I really like the simplicity to this version. The subject is really allowed to stand out, and even the flourishes around him seem to draw attention to him rather than take it away. The woodcut look to the armor is really cool.
