Description

She had noticed it, in small waves that initially rolled off her back and in ways that didn't matter.

Then, it grew more frequently.

Yulian was not oblivious to her surroundings – was not lacking in observancy when it came to the others interacting. She could recognize families, saw friends who intermingled, and watched tensions grow between wolves. As a guardian, this had been the better part of her life. At least, here in Riverfell. Observe. Watch. And look out for them all.

Now that she was here – the place closest to a home that she could call– she watched a certain pair of wolves, and felt the change of seasons come once more.

It was uncomfortable at points, being back to a place she had been a ghost to for something close to a full year. No, two. Why was time escaping her so much, now that she was getting older? That just meant she would have to catch up from all she had lost, especially here.

Maybe, Riverfell had tried to search for her at some point. She didn't want to admit it– but maybe, she wanted to believe him. Yulian was stubborn though, and not yet accepting of all the change that had taken place in her life. Pledging her loyalty back to this pack had cost her heartbreak. Not to mention one of her eyes. Still, she would stay and tend to matters just as if things were the same.

They would never be.

Winter was always it's worst when she was alone, that much was true. With this cold brought the remembrance that things would change. And between wolves, things certainly had changed. She watched them. In small ways, perhaps things appeared normal. But, to Yulian… She grew bitter. Without wanting to admit so, she even grew jealous.

And so, she found herself distancing between the wolves known as Keezheekoni and Orsu, wanting little to do with them. They were so clearly happy with one another, and seemed to have made a little family between themselves. Her heart felt just as cold as the snow that began to fall. Was she truly that forgettable? She knew she was no social butterfly, skillfully able to create heaps of friends. But the once small circle she could call friends… were no longer. Just strangers, and to themselves, maybe more than.

But the disquieted wolf would not linger long to find out if this assumption was true or not. As far as she was concerned, she was alone...

And maybe, that was for the best. It was time to move on.

WHEW THIS WAS... SPICY.

Catching up with a comic here of Yulian getting readjusted to totally normal and happy Riverfellian life! No drama to see here, no hurt feelings. Just sunshine, butterflies, and rainbows 😇

This takes place just a smidge after RF returns home from the Hive Wars!

Thank you so much goosened and SanjanaIndica for letting me (surprise!) lend your kiddos. I am SO SORRY it had to be for something like this! T__T

Tell Ors and Keez that I love them both dearly and DON'T condone Yuli being jealous.
