So many multicultural mermaids I have seen lately, its wonderful. One of my favorite books from my childhood was "Mermaid Tales From Around the World". Finally got a copy for myself last year. Beautiful. Now to your website.

I'm sure you'd love it, the artist researched all the tales (like you did), and made very authentic pieces to match all the tales, and then explains briefly in a few pages at the end how he did all of the very different cultures justice. As a kid I didn't know it was the same artist, so no clue that all the pieces were done just for the book.
Only one I'd ever heard of in the bunch was of course the little mermaid, which is actually put as the last tale, kinda like they had to put it in, but still did it justice.
My favorite piece is the painting of the Native American tale 'Menana of the Waterfall'. She's standing in the frothy pool at the bottom of a waterfall, staring blankly down at into it, her forearms covering her chest show what she is by being covered in turquoise silver scales. I love that piece.
The book really doesn't look like much on the shelf, and its only 84 pages, but its 8x10, and has a lovely cover as well. Its available cheap on half.com and I got my hardback copy for $12 at powells.com last year. [link]
I devoured it over and over at the library as a kid, I was poor and could get a copy. 15 years later I get a copy, mostly because I didn't understand used book stores online, and I found it by accident.
Blubbering on I know, but your work tells me you'd get if nothing else a lovely eye candy sugar rush whenever you looked at it (like I do). I'll go thumb threw my copy now that I grabbed it for reference.

Wow....I need to get myself a copy! Just reading your description has made me want it even more.
I have just one mermaid book, Sirens: Symbols of Seduction by Meri Lao which mentions loads of historical references of where they came from, their different appearances and their evolution. It's a very interesting read. I had to get a friend send it over from the US with a family member because it was too complicated to have it shipped over.
I LOVE MERMAIDS.
