Description Check yes, Juliet

Shinn lay in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, music from his iPod blaring in his ears. He was exhausted from the latest fight with the Earth Alliance. The Minerva had to dock for a while to repair and resupply, so Shinn was utterly bored. Sure, he could have done some shooting practice, or upgraded the Impulse's OS for the umpteenth time, but he really didn't feel like it. He really just wanted to rest.

"Shinn!" Shinn jolted up when Rey burst into his room, out of breath. Rey grabbed his arm and pulled him over to their little porthole window and said, "Look out the window, Prince Charming is throwing pebbles!"

"What?" Shinn asked, looking out the window.

Sure enough, down on the docks in the pouring rain, was none other than Shinn's secrete boyfriend, Kira Yamato, tossing pebbles at their window. Shinn sighed and turned off his iPod, figuring that it may be better to be able to actually hear what Rey had to say. Before Shinn could ask why Rey was so suddenly interested in Shinn's boyfriend, Shinn got a text. He flipped open his phone and chuckled.

"Check yes, Juliet, are you with me? Rain is falling down on the sidewalks. I won't go until you come outside," the text read. Shinn chuckled, choosing to ignore it for now and turned away from the window. Not two seconds later, another text hit his phone. "Check yes, Juliet, kill the limbo. I'll keep tossing rocks at your window."

"What is that all about?" Rey asked, sighing as he watched Shinn change into civilian clothes.

"Nothing really," Shinn said, smiling like an idiot. "We have permission to leave the ship, right?"

"Yeah," Rey said absently, watching Shinn lace up his shoes before running out the door.

Shinn ran down the gang plank and right into Kira, nearly knocking the two over Kira smiled and kissed him quickly before handing Shinn a helmet. No words were needed as Shinn slipped the helmet on and hopped onto the back of Kira's sleek black motorcycle. Once Kira was satisfied that Shinn was on and not going to fall off, he sped out of the military base as fast as he could, expertly navigating around the scores of checkpoints before they finally got out into the open. Shinn nuzzled into Kira's back, looking over his shoulder at the Minerva. He didn't think Kira was watching until the brunet spoke up.

"They'll try and tear us apart if you give them the chance to, Shinn," Kira said to softly Shinn barely heard it over the sound of the engine and the rain.

"I was just thinking if we were actually meant to be together," Shinn said, sighing as they finally stopped in front of a hotel.

"Don't tell your heart don't sing, or that we're not meant to be," Kira said, turning to look Shinn right in the eyes. "Just run. Forever we'll always be 'you and me'."

"Yeah." Shinn was grinning like the lovesick fool he was as Kira pulled him into the hotel.

~*Several Months Later*~

Shinn dressed silently, trying not to wake Rey. They were docked yet again due to another huge scuffle with the Earth Alliance and the Archangel. The soldiers were not allowed to leave the ship this time, Captain Gladys was convinced they would be leaving soon, but Shinn was going to try. Kira had texted him yet again, and it had given Shinn some wicked ideas.

"Check yes Juliet, I'll be waiting, wishing wanting, yours for the taking. Just sneak out and don't tell a soul goodbye," the text had read. It made Shinn blush a little, but he also got the idea to leave. He had seen Kira waiting for him outside the ship and knew that the brunet meant tonight.

As Shinn started to sneak around the maze of hallways that was the Minerva, armed guards saw him and called out to him to make his stop. Panicked, Shinn ran to one of the outside decks of the ship. The guards were chasing him, and he looked below to see Kira there, looking up expectantly.

"Jump!" he heard Kira called.

Shinn quickly judged the distance in his head. Deciding that it wasn't that long of a fall and that Kira could catch him, Shinn hopped the railing just as the guards got onto the deck. Shinn fell right into Kira's arms, safe and sound. Alarms went off, and Kira put Shinn on the ground, ready to run.

"Do you want them to tear us apart?" Kira asked, desperately.

"No," Shinn said, nodding, a determined fire blazing in his eyes.

"Then let's run!" Kira cried, grabbing Shinn's hand and pulling him along through the docks.

Shinn was surprised when Kira pulled them into what looked like an alleyway, only to find Athrun there in his convertible, waiting for them. Kira pushed Shinn into the back seat and then pulled himself in. Kira was barely in the car before Athrun sped off, shocking the guards that had chased them down there. Shinn watched the base fly by before they stopped just on the outskirts. There before them were two mobile suits, Athrun's Infinite Justice, and the Strike Freedom.

"The Freedom…" Shinn breathed, barely even registering as Kira pulled him out of the car and made a beeline for said mobile suit.

"Come on," Kira said, hooking an arm around Shinn's waist and grabbing the rope that would hoist them to the cockpit. Once there, Kira let Shinn slide in first behind the seat before he sat down and strapped himself in. He started the machine and smiled to Shinn. "Hold on tight."

Shinn braced himself as the Freedom took off, flying high into the sky and away from the base. Athrun was right behind them, and it seemed like they weren't being pursued. Shinn took this moment to look around them. Having always been piloting, Shinn never got to have a good look at the ground below them while he was in a mobile Suit. But watching it now, he realized how beautiful the city off in the distance and the ocean below them actually was. He also felt like this amazing view was even better because Kira was right there with him.

This peace was soon broken by the warning bell ringing in the cockpit. Both teens turned to see the Ledged closing in on them fast, firing off shot after shot to try to down them. With the skill that most Coordinators would kill to possess, Kira turned the Freedom around and fired off four shots, one hitting each limb of the Ledged and dismembering it before quickly turning it back around and continuing its flight to the Archangel.

Kira stepped down onto the floor of the Archangel, holding Shinn firmly against him so that the teen wouldn't fall. Once they touched down, they were surrounded by the other members of the ship's crew, asking them if they had too much trouble and questions similar. Kira answered half-heartedly, more worried about Shinn, who was shaking. Kira understood, Shinn had been taught to hate the Archangel, it's crew, and it's mobile suit, yet here he was standing in the hangar after just leaving ZAFT and being branded as a traitor.

Kira pulled Shinn aside, making an excuse to the others about wanting to rest. The two made their way to Kira's quarters, a tense silence settling between them. Once inside, Shinn nearly collapsed into Kira's waiting arms. He lead the distraught teen to the bed to sit and held him close.

"I can't believe this…" Shinn breathed, his eyes wide with fright. "I just left ZAFT… I'm on the most feared ship of the first Bloody Valentine War… I can't even believe I've been dating the pilot of the Freedom and I didn't even know…"

"Regret it?" Kira asked gently.

"Not at all," Shinn said, hugging Kira closely. "Well, I guess I regret leaving the Destiny behind. I really liked that machine…"

"It's here already," Kira said slyly. When he saw Shinn gaping at him, he said, "We have our ways, Shinn. Don't worry about it."

"You sly bastard," Shinn said, chuckling as he playfully punched Kira's arm. "But I still love you."

"I love you too," Kira said, capturing Shinn's lips in a sweet kiss.
