Twilight is couple inches under the average mare height but it doesn't matter because Discord towers over her and frankly every pony in ponyville. Its funny because he can shape-shift at will so you think he'd try to blend in but nah. Discords fine sticking out like a sore thumb. Also Twilight secretly thinks hes likes have that little bit of power of having ponies look up to him.They do look like an odd couple indeed walking down hand in hand but Discord thrives on chaos and Twilight has a grade A score in not giving a fuck. (except when it comes to authority figures)
