Description
Edit: Minor edits, mainly the unicorn's horn which has been reshaped. Also changed the pupils from a black to a near-black, in case anyone is interested.
Three very simple little sprites for anybody who wishes to use. You can recolour, reshape, edit and generally do whatever you want to them... in fact you're encouraged to use them to make some sprites, I'd love to see anything anyone makes. Just don't try and make money out of it, it won't work apart from anything else.
I've designed them all to fit within a 50 x 50 Canvas with room for a mane and tail so unlike my previous piece they actually fit an avatar without squashing.
I know it's obvious but from left to right we have: Earth Pony, Unicorn, Pegasus and the palette.
'Course, I'm sure you can figure out how to get an alicorn.
Anyway, I hope somebody enjoys this. I know it's unlikely I'll have any more then half a dozen people see it but hey, I enjoyed making the little guys.

Sounds cool, I have several unnamed pony Ocs. I want a name which is the right level of cheesiness. I mean it needs to fit in with the show's rather corny naming but without being that one step too far. That said the ones I do have are rather terrible. >.<

I'm no good at cheesy puns either. D: I just look at all the names I inted to name my OCs and realise they all suck. Combining a noun and verb is generally a good way to get a name I think... Rainbow Dash for instance, or twilight sparkle.

I think what I might do is name my ocs noun-verb for now until I actually think of a punny name for them... my problem is I'm really not sure what to make puns of for my characters, I can't think of any phrases or anything that are related to thier cutie marks.

Making puns is hard. I spent a good twenty minutes coming up with Poe Peep and that just doesn't make any sense, it just rhymes with bo peep. *facepalm*

Possibly! Well you've seen some pencil sketches of them from my tumblr which is roughly what they look like and I keep changing thier personalities so they're really quite basic atm and I'm not great at describing personalities so I'll give you a veryvery basic outline. The first one's a unicorn pony who's an archeologist, who prefers to talk about archeology and his work rather than actually do it. He's a kind and socialable fellow buthe's got a kinda obsessive personality which sometimes causes him to appear dismissive or sometimes quite rude, but he doesn't mean for this.
My second pony is a pegasus who got her cutie mark from being a skilled saxphonist. She lives in PonyVille, like all my ocs but she spends a lot of her time staying in Canterlot with her yet-to-be-made sister, as that's where she plays in conserts. She's quiet and quite wildly judgemental, often leaping to wildly inaccurate claims (possibly due to her overactive imagination), but is rather humble and embarassed when prooved incorrect.
My final pony is an earth pony who works as a 'meterologist'. Put in quotes because I know pegasi and magic control the weather, so what she does is kinda different to a meterologist, but I kinda thought it was the best word for it? Basically she helps plans out what the weather should be like in each place every day, making sure everywhere gets enough rain and sunlight, ect. Or something like idk what i'm typing. Anyway she's chatty and loves to gossip, but can be a extremely pushy sometimes.

If I can come up with anything at all I'll say... but I doubt inspiration will hit me at... okay, we'll ignore the fact inspiration usually hits me at insanely late hours.
Hmm... would you say your archeologist fellow would be the sort to exagerate his good points? You said he prefers talking about archeology to actually doing anything so would he be the sort to perhaps stretch the value of something, perhaps the significence of something he found?
For your second one... maybe look up the names of some famous Jazz singers? I mean I named Poe Peep for Edger Allen Poe because she's an avvid poet and fan of ghost stories/the occult. (Still, Poe Peep is an awful name worth improving.)
As for the third... well, I'm just talking off the top of my head so don't read too much into what I say... but obviously something to do with a wheather event is an obvious choice. Perhaps if she's quite a chatty extrovert then something to do with the sun? Sunny something? Sundrop? Sunbow?
Actually, the last one is one the possible names I have for one of my OCs but that's not the point.
They all live in ponyville? x3 can't really be helped given the series revolves around the place. Funnily enough I don't think I have any that live in Ponyville...

Yeah. He would exaggerate too badly normally but when he gets carried away with talking he does, especially when around ponies who don't know much about it so won't be able to tell that he is.
Ooh, that's a good idea! I'll probably doo that a bit later when I'm not being so lazy. :'P And I rather like that name, it's certainly not as bad as you keep saying it is.
Yeah, I was thinking about a weather themed name too, but I was leaning more towards a cloudy themed name because of her coat being light grey (just realised I forgot to include colours describtions oops. Anyway the unicorn is a a sandy kinda brown with darker orange mane, the pegasus a pale indigo/violet with a slightly more bluey and dark mane and the earth pony a light grey coat with a purpple mane)
Yeah, because it's where most episdoes are set so it's the location I know most about, which makes it faaaar easier to imagine that other locations. Also I wanted them all to live in the same place so Ponyville seemed kinda like the best choice.

I asked because I was thinking of perhaps something involving the word 'Gilded' which can mean something covered in a thin layer of gold, like an ancient treasure, or to exaggerate something already bautiful. Anyway, that was just one idea. Not sure what it could be combined with... though Gild COULD be a name. I don't know. :3
Then again you could try something connected with a dig. Delve? Delvin?

I know, although if every fan character was real Ponyville would be the most overpopulated place in Equestria. Of course I'm not saying there is anything wrong with your characters living there... no, what's wrong is when the're BFFs/romantically involved with one of the mane six or some other crap. Also, Alicorns. There are far far far far far far far too many alicorns. In my opinion there should be three. Celestia, Luna and Faust.

Cloudcover sounds really nice and mlpy! A quick google search of 'Cloudcover My Little Pony' didn't come up with anything, so I don't think there's already a pony with that name.

I thought so, but I'm not convinced its a very effeminite name... I don't know why it sounds so familiar. Maybe it was used in a fanfic I read? I haven't read many but its possible one of the few I read used that. (You know, thinking about it I might go check S&H.)

I don't like the addition of Cadence but neither do I want to make a big deal of it. I'm sure enough people are going to do that as it is.
Still, Cadence isn't anywhere near the level of evil of the Alicorn OCS out there. Alicorns are uber rare demi-god like entities restricted to royalty... and even then only Luna and Celestia. Blue-blood is just a unicorn. (Hah, JUST a unicorn. Not like the're the most powerful of the 3 main species.)
The fact that most the OC Alicorns have OTT 'tragic' backstories only makes things worse.
I wouldn't say I onject to OC/Canon 'shipping', I'd say I object to it 95% of cases. I'll admit a little guiltily that at one point I did toy with the idea of shipping one of my OCs with Cherilee... BUT, this was before Hearts and Hooves when she become something more then a on line character AND it was only meant to be a sweet little romance brought on by him falling in love with her... It was NOT an excuse to make them snog for hours on end. Heck, in all the scenarios I dreamt up involving the two of them nothing more happened then a kiss on the cheek. I don't really get too involved with the whole 'shipping' thing, I feel most people try to pair up too many characters, but at the same time I don't object to it so long as it isn't an excuse to have them snog... or worse. There should be some amount of feeling behind it.

I only share my opinions and talk about them because I'm interested in hearing your own... which I would classify as discussion... where as argueing is something reserved for getting someone to think you're right... if that makes ANY sense.
In short I hope you don't take me stating I don't like Cadence (sp?) as to say you're wrong if you don't like her... or anything like that.
Anyway, Ditzy Doo... seeing as you call her that I too will call her that whilst chatting to you at least (though I usually just call her Derpy, personally.).
I can understand why you don't really like Ditzy, I mean she is just meant to be a small recurring joke... yet many fans blow it out of proportion.
What makes me personally sad is the way so many fans will cause an uproar the moment a minor character like Ditzy does something that contradicts their interpretation of the characters personality, as if it would be the worst thing in the world for Ditzy to have a personality that wasn't their personal ideal. As far as I'm concerned people are free to interpret minor characters however they should respect other people's right to the same and all this argueing about wheter her name is Ditzy or Derpy, wheter it's Lyra or Heartstrings and all the other things people make a big deal about just isn't worth fighting about.

I call her Ditzy Doo because I think it's a more mlpy sounding name than "Derpy Hooves", and doesn't have rediculous internet slang in it. I saw someone compairing it to the difference between naming a human character 'Silly Sue' and 'Retardy Feet', sure, the first one's kinda hard to believe, but the last one's just moronic.
Oh yes, I agree with that. I'm really confused that people keep getting so angry about the Lyra/Heartstrings thing... jesus christ.
But my mane reason for disliking Ditzy is kinda more personal. I loathe how the fandom saw the animation glitch and made this whole 'clumsy handfisted moron' idea judging solely by the fact she was a wonkey eye! I have a lazy eye too and it makes me kinda disgusted that people would make such disrespectful assumptions about someone's personality and intelligence just because their eye doesn't go straight. Yes, I know I'm reading too much into this and I know a lot of dumb characters are wall eyed and such but my brain can't stop making the connection between my lazy eye and Ditzy's and it's just really disheartening to me.
Oh yes. One thing that especially grinds my gears is when people ship people with incompatible sexualities... especially when people ship asexuals with thier zucchinis... just nooo stop it.

I don't know what the heck I could possibly say and I'm just stressing myself out by trying.
And this is my problem with most 'shipping'.
People just disregard any ounce of sense and just select two characters they think would look "cute" together.
They don't give one damn about what makes sense. They don't pick characters who would actually be happy together. They don't even pick characters that are the right sexuality.
All my hate is reserved for one particularly loathsome DA stamp which made a love triangle of three men of which:
1. None were gay.
2. One was dead, and had been for several years.
3. Said one was in love with the show's leading lady.
4. Another initially had a crush on same woman before finding his own love interest, also a woman.
5. The third, though lacking an actual love intrest, was shown to want nothing more then a family. Proved by a scene I personally love in which he's temporarily trapped in his personal paradise, a world where he gets to live a quiet life with wife and daughter.
So, in others words six very strong reasons those three would never be in a love triangle. Why do fans have to do such awful shipping? I don't object to gay people/romances, just butchering canon in such a horrid, horrid way.
Also, I used to ship zucchinis, but getting it in the box was a bit of a squash.

Point is, I don't see Ditsy as being offensive but at the same time yes, it is offensive for people to assume just because Ditsy had wonky eyes she must be a moron. I'll admit having a character who is both dumb and wall-eyed isn't going to reflect well on people with eye conditions, but its the people who are the morons themselves who take one character and make a generalisation out of it.
Look, I know I'm repeating myself but its not Ditsy that's offensive. The offensive people are those arseholes who don't undertand the difference between one person with an eye condition and everyone with an eye condition. That's just my opinion. For the record, not everyone is stupid enough to assume Ditsy must be dumb. First MLP fanfic I ever read? Shipping and Handling. Portrays Ditsy as an otherwise normal pony besides her eye condition. In fact if anything she's an undiscovered genius.

My main problem with her is that being a clumsy idiot is ALL there is to her personality in most representations! She has no depth, she's character that exists to be the butt of jokes, and she's not particulary good one either. And it seems that the brony community made her that way, a 2D, personality-less moron just because of her eyes (they could have chosen ANY pony to give this personality (or should I say lack of it) but I don't think it's a coincidence that they chose the one with the eye problem).

ASDF More awkward struggling by me:
I'm sorry if this sounds insensitive but I still don't see a problem with her being portrayed as dumb. What I DO object to, and rather strongly, is people opposing to her being portrayed as nΓ³t (WTF? How did I do that accent? I could change it, but I'm going to leave it now just because.) being dumb. I'm not sure how relevant this point is but I get seriously stressed about other people getting all butthurt the moment any artist, writer or whatever portrays a character (especially in the case of bg ponies like Ditsy) as having a personality unlike whatever they like. A while back I saw a comic which shows Luna being rather silly and I loved it, which is why I facepalmed as soon as I saw the angry comments bitchin about how Luna being the silly one for once, and thus the butt of the joke.
Personally I prefer the version of Ditsy where she's just a bit clumsy but not actually dumb, a caring mother and lover of muffins. A pony who struggles with the problem of having an eye condition rather then being an excuse to laugh at them.
I know that perhaps I can't appreciate your point of view given my eyesight is remarkable if I do say so myself, despite the fact one of my sisters once had a lazy eye and the other and my mother require glasses, but I do understand why you would be sensitive about it. Some people are just jerks who will make fun of things you have no control over so its only natural you'd be a bit defensive of anything that could blur the lines between what is okay to laugh at and what isn't.
Now I've just got to hope I didn't mangle my point too much.
Now Zucchinis... I honestly had never heard that before... but my knowledge of slang, internet or otherwise, is hardly extensive. That said I can't see how aromantic and platonic don't contradict each other...
