Description
Above is the current progress of my next major project for an art portfolio. I wanted to scan it in now before the whole thing gets color added and loses its crispness. It is a basic line drawing and is actually the third attempt- I have traced this from the original which was very similar but had the towers farther apart- and the closer tower I wanted to fit more on the page. I've actually got only one vanishing point on the buildings- the inside facing part (balconies). I used one point and lined up the line-intersections for the tiles.I've utilized numerous references for these buildings, and since they were boarded up and in rough shape I've naturally had to alter them to look in use; and had to guess about features in areas where I couldn't tell from a photo.
My character Janet looks beautiful and carefree. She was drawn without references as usual. I just added that bollard on the left, and am soooooo happy with it! These bollards are in many of the ref photos, and they worked perfectly making the perspective size of Janet in relation to the buildings appear more convincing.
BUT- this was the easy part! I now have to color and shade it all in, and that will be no easy task. It won't be a quick one either. I've been carefully doing up this line drawing over the past few weeks. You can see whispy lines or dots here and there suggesting vegitation- these work as "reminders" for me when coloring that there will be a bush or trees there. I'll move this progress drawing to scraps when the project is done
