Description oh hey, never seen these guys before

Additional notes:

*Bastitones in general aren't very common in Bellhollow, their native lands are quite far away from it. Most don't care for the weather, as they are hot-weather people.

*They have the longest lifespan out of the other races in Bellhollow--up to 175 years

*The Mountain variety hail from a harsh, mountainous desert terrain. The Island variety come from a hot, humid, and tropical area south of the Mountain's native land.

*Hatchlings aren't born with a "mask", and develop it through their toddler years.

*Elders' masks often become cracked and chipping off by themselves.

*They are all naturally resistant to disease and poison, as well as naturally pretty physically strong and sturdy.

*In combat, they are not particularly fast. They're more tanky.

*Many are in the metalworking or mining business.

*They also have a feral sound: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAb5S1…

* ^Typically they only use the 'feral voice' when trying to intimidate someone. It often works.

*Masks that have had pieces chipped or broken off do not grow back.

*An urban legend states that if an old Bastitone gifts you with one of their shed scales, it casts protection over you if you get into a fight. Elders want to dispel this legend because being asked for scales by youngsters is annoying.

Are cross-breeds possible within bastitones?

sadly, not really. Rhynts and bastitones are compatible but something to do with the size differences causes too many complications for the offspring and the parent bearing the egg. Basically it either ends with a miscarriage (egg never hatches and rots) or (if the one bearing the egg is a rhynt) extreme illness or death in the parent.

Sorry, I meant a cross-breed between an Island and mountain bastitone, unless it works the same way.

oh rip. but yea and island and a mountain are compatible! the offspring will either look mountain or island, color-wise, instead of a hybrid of both, but they might have unusual eye colors or markings.

So something like mountain body type with island colors,

or are they completely indistinguishable from purebreds

aside from odd markings or eyes?

Sorry for all the questions. :'Y

Alright that clears it up, thanks!

I admit, I like those kind of questions too that provide story and world building.

Though for me they're very rare.

But yeah, I should have plenty of questions for you in the future, so don't worry about running short on them.

So, are Bastitones a unisex species?

That's cool. You don't see very many male-oriented unisex species (that are well known at least). Unless there are and I just don't realize it.
