what to say about this one except - perfect.
i am a fan of minimalism and this is - it. the repeating background, the simple typography (maybe a grammar problem though - welcome to THE rupture), the simple symbol - a clenched fist.
a bit more work on the hand itself would be cool, since it is a bit fuzzy, unlike all the other parts of the poster.
love the dull-ish colors in the background clashing with the skin color of the hand. possibly, also, the hand could be a bit thinner towards the bottom, seems a bit big honestly.
but overall - i like it very very much.e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b⦠" width="18" height="15" alt="

It's not actually a grammar problem. The setting of BioShock (The game this poster is based on) is an underwater city called Rapture, hence Welcome to Rapture.

This is awesome, I recently set up a website called 'Poster Spy' which is a social network/portfolio solution for poster artists and I'd love it if you could share your work with the other artists.Β

Well, they're similar... but Plaza is commercial... I used free font. And it's stored in my project folder, so I know for sure.

Yeah I agree with you man, I've been busy this last months too, working in design and I just returned 3 months ago to my last and first job, so I've been out of this for a long time.

I love it. Great job. The guy talking about the chains, I think he might mean putting them on the wrist like the character from the first game, the tatoos he had. But I like it this way because it shows that there was a Rapture before the occurances of the first game. It shows Rapture in it's prime, before it destroyed itself. And I totally got the waves and the position of the buildings. Like all art, you have to have a little knowledge of the subject matter to really appreciate what's going on. I defineatly can see this hanging in the subways station of Rapture, or near the theme park or theatre. Amazing job!

well done, great color choices and i agree with :devnekogothicksporkie: about the buildings. I think that if you moved the buildings up on the sides it would also frame the text better.

volodreamer In reply to Vashtastic [2010-03-31 04:57:04 +0000 UTC]
Yes... but this picture represents Rapture at the bottom of the sea... buildings can't reach the surface of the sea which represented as greeny gradient.

Oh no i'm not saying bring them up that much, just change the shape to frame the fist more, give it more of a curve.

That art deco font has such a large O compared to the narrow characters. I personally like how you made use of that large space for the "to".
Maybe you could arrange the buildings in a triangular composition to make the city look like it's rising up with the hand instead of looking like a background filler. You could also opt to add smaller buildings in front of the taller ones for more depth.
Lastly, I could suggest adding Jack's tattoos of chains on his wrists to give more relation to the game but I think this can look like a poster for the city of Rapture itself without it.
Otherwise, nice job. I like the color scheme too.
