After many failed attempts, long days, and much hair pulling, Rachel finally had her proof of an accepted ride request. This meant that Abbie and Rachel were officially at the halfway mark in their bond and could do more advanced training. Every once in a while Abbie would have a sassy streak, and on rare occasions buck, but Rachel was able to recover her mare a lot quicker now that they were more in sync. When the coast finally seemed clear, Rachel decided to take things one step further by leaving the safety of the arena and going out for a long ride.

Rachel roughly pat Abbie on the neck as she prepared to tacked up. "So Abs, I've been thinking. Since you've been less of a jerk lately, and I have some spare time, we should take advantage of this anomaly and take to the great outdoors for our first trail ride. Eh, eh, what do you say?" Abbie seemed annoyed, either because of the animated neck pats or the fact that her beautiful name was butchered to that of a human muscle. Whatever the case, she was destined for the trail today one way or another. Abbie did make one final stand to rebel against Rachel's wish by trying to dodge the bit when it was put to her face. When her rebellion failed terribly she decided that it would be best if she just went along.

Out on the trail, Rachel made sure to choose the longest way around as it usually had less traffic, relatively wide and flat paths, and scenic views of meadows and rivers. The perfect place to savor the beautiful rigorous training session they could get in along the way. After all, long peaceful trail rides were overrated. Abbie was asked to change her gait every once in a while, but she didn't take too kindly to the requests. Rachel was determined to have her way with the mare and managed to squeeze some good lessons out of her, even practiced a few dressage movements they had been working on along the way. She also learned a interesting feature about her mare. Any time they would pass by a horse and rider, Abbie would be more obedient, her movements would be more refined, and she would even transition to another speed. As if the current gait wasn't adequate enough to show off her beauty. When the horse and rider were out of sight, she returned to her stubborn self. Abbie seemed to like performing in front of an audience. If Rachel could find a way to take advantage of this, life for the both of them would get a lot more interesting.

At the end of the trail Rachel pat her horse on the neck. "An hour long ride together, and you didn't try to buck me off once! New record! Plus we got in a decent amount of bonding time! You learned that you listen to me the first time around and I won't be a thorn in your side, and I learned that you don't totally despise being ridden, you just think it's a waste if others aren't there to adore you." Abbie seemed to be pleased that she was finally understood, Rachel was feeling the same way. "I think we're starting to grow on each other, hey Abs?" Their little bonding moment ended here. The mare pinned her ears, and they remained that way for the rest of the day.
