okay, I have come up with the realization that
1. It doesn't matter if the background sucks or not. It matters that the viewer's eyes are drawn to the part of the artwork where you want to get attention.
2. Sometimes , blurring in Photoshop is too awesome to not use.
3. Gray tones can really make colors pop when necessary.

Also, this is a concept art of a writing project I'm working on called Carpe Diem. The two characters in the front are : Michael, the main character, and Holly, his girl.
