Description
So, people. Ah, screw the formalities...I'm back in business. Or rather, I've set the very tip of my toes back into business.
The unreachable Blender files I mentioned some time ago have been recovered, though since my computer is about as slow as the slug I saw the other day if it was dead, I can't say I am able to do much work on them.
But just in case someone was wondering what I've been up to, here is a haphazardly-posed full-body shot of the low-res Roodaka animation model I am working on to practice character animation and lip-sync with. Not sure how finished it is -- the legs need some work, as does the armature that I need to pose the model with, especially the facial settings.
I have to say I hate Blender. Truly hate how I just can't seem to figure out how almost every time I open the file, something has changed through some mind-boggling way that I cannot fathom. Seems like the problem's in my system and not with Blender, mmh? That explains the "I can't figure out how it works" part but not how the character model, the armature or the face-controls just get distorted by themselves when I'm not using the file.
If this wasn't a big enough annoyance, I realized I may have to redo Roodaka's mouth settings, since it appears if I move her head, the face-controls will simply cease to function. I know there must be some incredibly easy fix to it, and I may be able to figure it out myself if I hadn't forgotten just how I set up the controls in the first place, since it's been months since I set them, and-- GAFH! Ya' know how aggravating it is to have so much of the lip-sync already done and then having to go back and redo it almost from scratch?! This wouldn't be the first time I had to do it either.
Blender is such an awesome tool, but it should really go and get itself fucked something fierce by a horde of angry crocodiles in at least three timezones...

Awesome! Very good work!
I can't give any good advice because I am not very fluent in Blender. XP
The only thing that I would touch up on, though, would be the sharp reflection on the metal. That looks a little too sharp and out of place.
Blender is frustrating, indeed. Just a question, though: what version of Blender are you using? If you download the newer one (version 2.57 or something on those lines), it's a lot easier to use. It may be frustrating, unfortunately, to re-learn it, but I recommend the new interface to the old one: although it's vastly different, it's a lot easier to use, navigate and understand.
Blender Cookie.com is also a good place to look for tutorials in the new interface; it has really helped me understand that program better, and the tuts aren't useless either.
(Forgive me if you already do have the new version and I'm just repeating myself for no reason.)

I'm using 2.5something, but haven't figured everything out yet, and the website you mentioned is also new to me, so in no way was your comment even close to being useless.
I will take note about the reflection bit -- it's hard to get right, and my PC is very slow when it comes to Blender, so I may just leave reflections out entirely.

Ok, cool. XD
I find 2.56 or 2.57 waaaaayyyy better. XD
Texturing seems to be the most difficult (at the moment); it's incredibly easy to make it look unrealistic. XD
You don't need to leave it out, probably just reduce the opacity or strength and increase its size a tiny bit (so it's not literally a dot).

That's awesome. So how long before Bionicle 5, the fan made not suckish three hour epic comes out? I kid I kid. Can you get assistance online, in forums or something. Other people have got to be using this, maybe they can help?
She looks good though. I can't wait to see her moving around bossing people and being evil.

Considering it even takes months to make a 50 second animation thingy... I guess, eternity?
I've actually managed to figure out what I did wrong. As suspected, it was a bafflingly simple thing, such a tiny detail that no wonder it's slipped past my attention.
And I'm about to finally finish her animation, but I have to knock on wood here. There may still be a barrier ahead of me. Wish me luck!

Nice work. It's a shame that Blender's trolling you.

Glad to be back too, although come to think of it, I was never even gone... just lurking in the shadows.
