Technically a bit of a redraw of this scene , though decided to expand upon it and make it a bit more meaningful. The discussion of Nala's role in TLK2 got brought up again, so I kept thinking back to ways of how she could've been more presented as a strong, supportive character in the film, though somehow that went back to the first film and a rant I remember recently. Basically when Scar is trying to manipulate Simba into forgetting what Rafiki literally just told him, the pride just, for some inane reason, stands in the back, watching Simba get moved over to the edge, and do nothing to help him. Like, hello, ladies! You're long-lost prince has returned and is trying to help you and you're just gonna stand back there and watch him get bullied by his uncle? WTF?!

After getting to the part where Simba has Scar pinned and is forcing a confession out of him, however, you can see the lionesses are behind a wall of hyenas. That made me wonder whether the hyenas were actively preventing the lionesses from defending Simba, since we only see the lionesses start to attack after the hyenas go after Simba, when they're all distracted and focused on a target, thus making them easier to take down from behind.

It was then I decided to take inspiration from Kiara trying to move past her pride to get to Kovu, but instead Nala trying to stand by Simba's since, but can't do to Scar's minions threatening her if she goes forward. Something minor in the film overall, but it would a) show that the pride does support Simba, just can't do to a legitimate obstacle, b) show Nala's devotion and support towards him, and c) make the pride overall look less careless and weak-willed in the face of this conflict by having them wait for an opening to help.

Yeah, it's a pretty minor picture for just a small scene adjustment, though having more supporting characters like Nala actually do stuff to support the main characters would be really nice. In this case, not just zooming in on Nala's face as she calls out for him, but trying to actually reach him, only to be stopped by Scar's underlings.
