Description
More YGO mermaids.Drawing their tails was the most fun part. Funny thing, I thought shading this would be the worst/most annoying part, but I actually had fun shading thanks to the "overlay" layer. The most annoying part was probably the inking.
I just know some of you Seto fanboy/girls will like seeing him shirtless.
Enjoy.

I too admit a crush on Yami Yugi/Atem back when I watched Yugioh in my youth. Shirtless Kaiba would definitely make the fangirls go mad though I imagine. I also liked Pegasus, despite him being cast as the villain of the first arc.

Atem is hot, what can I say? ^^' It's no wonder he attracts so many people. (That and his calm/kindhearted demeanor.)
Yeah, Seto girls will probably love this pic! ^^
I have sort of a love-to-hate thing for Pegasus, honestly. He's so awful, but he has this villainous charm I can't help but adore. I still don't like what he said to Mokuba in the Pyramid of Light movie though. He called him an ingrate for not trusting him right away, and I'm like, of course the boy you locked in a dungeon and stole his soul is still going to be suspicious of you. What were you expecting?

Physical attractiveness is not a primary draw for me. Intelligence is the first quality I usually look for, and because Yami/Atem was a serious strategist and connected to arcane magic, I was a fan from the start. You are right that he is calm under pressure and kindhearted as well, but I would argue that Yugi making the sacrifice when Atem legendarily lost during the "Order of Oricalcos" arc makes him even more so.
Pegasus is a show man with purple hair. I'm a sucker for both. I hated him for stealing away the souls of Yugi's grandfather and Mokuba, but I also felt so sorry for him with his lost love Celia. I'm thinking the Pyramid of Light film basically ret-conned the first arc, so I blame the inconsistency in Pegasus and Mokuba's relationship on that.

True, if a character is just horrible, I won't be attracted to them, no matter how "hot" I think they are at the start. I felt so sorry for Atem during the part when he lost Yugi... Poor guy lost his best friend because someone goaded him into playing a bad card.
I love them both and it was so tragic how that played out.
I think the aspect of him that made me interested in Atem again was in fact how he reacted to losing in the game "Duel Links." Even though he takes the game seriously and doesn't want to lose, if he does lose, he congratulates the opponent and smiles. Showing that a True Duelist is a good sport about losing.
That's true. Some people say that Pyramid of Light isn't supposed to be canon. That's one theory as to why not everything adds up.

i immediately recognized this scene lol, i love that episode where mokuba hides behind him it was so adorable :'3
i also remember it wasn't actually pegasus who was there and being like WAT.
but anyways i love their faces and expressions, especially pegasus he turned out really good .o.
they look like they were like
'let's go on a magical mermaid vacation! no one will bother us in the FREAKING OCEAN' * swim * and then 'oh kaiba-boi u took the magical mermaid vacation too~?" hahahaha :'D
it's very cute

It was totally adorable!!
Yeah, that was a weird twist. X_x
Thanks! I'm glad Pegasus turned out well; he was the character I was the most self-conscious about... And thanks for the fave!
Haha! That's hilarious! I love your ideas that go with my pics!
Ironyyyyy~! Pegasus is the best at trollin' Kaiba.

sometimes i see ur pics and just think 'i could write a whole story out of this one pic' lol
and yeh he turned out the best of all of them! .o.
i much liked the jp version better where from the very start mokuba is afraid of pegasus and kaiba is like "what's wrong" and he's liek "but what if he does what he did bfore?" and kaiba is liek 'i won't let anything happen to u"
english mokuba is just whining cuz kaiba promised to stop dueling and it's like wtf kid :/ if he doesn't duel again u will lose everything! english mokuba is just a selfish brat, and it meant losing the part of kaiba promising to protect him :/

Aw! Heh, I'm glad to see my pics inspire such fun ideas~
Of course, I had to capture Pegasus in all his fabulousness~!
Aw, Seto!! <3 Poor little Mokuba must have been traumatized from that experience, and it felt like the English version really tried to downplay that. They must hate Mokuba angst (I mean they already cut out all the scenes where Mokuba gets hit by someone.)
I like Moki no matter what (even his Season 0 self), but yeah, that felt really OOC of him to say... I wish they'd kept the original translation.

yeh they really did definitely kiddify the crap out of it. like we watched season 4, and u can easily guess that every part where someone "disappeared" or "went missing" or "just left" or "got captured" it's easy to tell english version is covering up a death. so i figured season 4 wouldn't surprise me.
SEASON 4 IS FREAKING HORRIFIC OMG. .___________________________.
i mean.
OMIGOSH.
just.
my gosh.
lol. like for example i noticed when there at the end dartz is all "so i betrayed everyone" *flashbacks of how he maniuplated them all* but then he gets to valon and just 'and as for him i framed him for his first crime. moving on to next scene~" and doesn't show a flashback there just a casual mention and i did notice that was odd. GOOD. LORD. what they cut out for him was. OMG. xD
speaking of him i also kind of don't lke how they make up fake accents for characters for places they are not actually from :/ cuz i like accents it adds to the character and makes them feel like they have a history and stuff, they came from somewhere, they have a culture...so when they're not really from that country it's awkward. like joey being all brooklyn... he's supposed to be japanese. :/
so that's why i really liked zigfried's german accent in english version cuz he really is from germany in jp version. but english version does have this thing where like, zigfried has accent but his brother doesn't.... joey has accent but his sister/mother don't.... the accents are just tossed in for no reason and that is disappointing cuz i would like that to be a real part of the characters and well it just isn't :c and then for characters who really ARE foreigners those are the ones who don't get accents!

It doesn't surprise me that they did that - The Seal of Oricalcos concept is already rather dark as it is. And yeah, they tend to use the Shadow Realm to cover up death. There's no actual "Shadow Realm" in the jp version... I was a little disappointed by that TBH; mainly because it was so consistent in the dub and felt like a really regular part of the show.
Bad Dartz, baaaaaaaadd! You did something so awful 4kids couldn't even show a single second of it!
Yeah, it doesn't make sense that Joey has an accent and Serenity doesn't. They could have at least made that consistent.
Another thing I noticed is the randomly thrown-in puns in the English version. Whereas in the jp version they have regular dialogue. Sometimes, it makes the duels more entertaining.

the most annoying thing of the english version is they talk too much. there is NEVER any quiet suspesneful moments, someone always has to be talking no one ever shuts up. and they talk even when they have nothing to actually say so they just narrate what is going on. also, they cuz so much character development and so many subplots out but then try to make the characters talk more than normal, so they end up repeating themselves and then everyone ends up with like, a theme that they repeat. atem is "the fate of the world depends on us" over and over and he never talks about anything else, tea is all about friendship over and over and nothing else, joey is all just jokes over and over and hardly ever says normal non-comic relief lines, ishizu narrates everything and constantly states whatever is happening on-screen as it is happening etc, when in jp those characters actually talked about OTHER things now and then
i remember hearing the shadow realm didn't exist at all in jp but when i watched it it seems it does exist but just english version inserts it into episodes where it wasn't supposed to be there. like the thing marik/bakura does where they summons the black shadows in a duel and whatnot that's the shadow realm, but then like the part where they were on the sky scraper / the saw blades cutting ppls legs off / every time anyone fell off anything or died / etc the english version shoves the SR in there . me thinks if i recall right the only time the shadow realm is ever actually really involved is marik / bakura's duels ( where pieces of u vanish as u lose LP and stuff like that ) and then the duel with pegasus back in S1 where yugi didn't have the strength to stay conscious. also english version seems to have dumbed it down to "a dark place where u wander around aimlessly and it's scary" and i'm pretty sure in jp it's basically more or less Hell ( going along with the pentagrams on DMG that were edited out and "black magician" 's name being changed cuz of the mentioning of literal black magic, etc )
i grew up with eng verison and got attached to it and was familiar with it so a lot of the stuff i found out was changed disapointed me too :c like i happend to really like the name tristan but "honda" around here is always associated with cars so it's hard for met o take that seriously
but on the whole the plots and scenes and stuff were much better in jp. and not just the dark stuff but the small things, like how in battle city no one was saving the stupid world! it was all just people with their own little dreams and goals and then this psychopath gets in the middle of it and they realize how insignificant their own little plans were and how theres no real reason to stay true to them except just simply "i made a promise to someone". there was no high stakes of saving mankind and so that got really redundant when dartz/zorc came and actually did put the world in danger instead of that being new it was "well here we go again". and pegasus wasn't taking over the world either. they really wear out the "save the world" thing when actually other stuff was going on just ppl with relationships to each other and goals and dreams and disappointments that just wanted to save those important to them and keep the promises they made and stuff
but i think the fact it is STILL pretty darn good even with the butchered eng version is pretty impressive. even with half of it cut out it's still a pretty good story line. and eng version DOES have some good jokes and i like dartz/bakura's voices better in english instead of their female jp voices. bakura's probably got the best eng actor in my opinion and yugi/atem and joey are pretty good too. i think non-dark marik, ishizu, mai and tea are the worst cuz they tend to sound like playing with small kids and talking really slow and not being too realistic so kids know its just pretend instead of sounding like they are actually in real danger/upset/worried/etc. kaiba is ok sometimes and then other times i cannot stand how his eng guy talks but it may be just cuz some of his lines are really really stupid. "if at first u dont succeed blast them with ur blue-eyes again."

One scene I compared side-by-side was the Kaiba hacks into the I2 mainframe sequence. In the English version the computer is sassy and there's a lot of jokes thrown in for our entertainment. But the Japanese version just focuses on plot and Kaiba having a tough time hacking in. It's such a change in mood. I mostly watched both the dub and sub episodes which Mokuba stars in cause I wanted to compare his voice actors. While the JPN one is SO cute and probably the best voice for him, the English one is also good, even if she sounds a bit older. ^^ I also watched some German dubbed episodes and while in season 1 he sounds like a real 11-year old boy, by Season 3, he's already hit puberty and sounds close to 16.
I watched some GX episodes in JPN only, because I remember the English version was terrible. Even though it still has cliche's, the plot is a lot more coherent and the theme songs are SO much more beautiful. The Season 1 "Hallelujah!" one especially.

i hate that they cut all the jp intros and songs and replaced them with every. single. episode. being. exactly. the same. :/ i guess some ppl like that "it's time to d-d-d--d-d-d-duel" thing and think it's iconic but i really hate it xD it's REALLY childish and the original songs were SO lovely :c some i really really liked, and they used to have special intro sequences too and not just random clips of monsters :/ i like the one ending where yugi misses the bus. the bus he was trying to get on with the blue-eyes painted on it was supposed to be the bus he takes in our comics but i couldn't get much detail in there with those tiny tiny panels. i wanna draw a lot bigger for the new stuff
and yeh i must admit... i do lke the line "i thought i'd seen it all but having to break into your own house?" haha :'D;;;.... but. with the srs tone of the jp version, the part where he blows up the whatever with LITERAL DIGITAL DYNAMITE was incredibly silly x'D the eng version being silly to begin with didn't look so bad but in jp that part is really just stands out really bad xD wtf
i hate how u buy the "stolen blue eyes white dragon" dvd, with the jp version on it, and for some stupid stupid STUPID reason they had to do it exactly like the regular tape was, where it begins with the ending of the mako duel and then does only the first 2 eps of yugi vs ghost-kaiba and then stops. in the original tapes that made sense cuz all of them ended on cliff-hangers so u'd buy the next tape, but in this case, there is no next tape!! thy just only picked just these eps to do in jp so why just leave it ending on nothing!? argh!!! i don't care at all about mako's episodes whatso ever but they cut off the ending of where kaiba helps yugi. i love the eps where they work together ;x; and that was the first time kaiba ever helped yugi and he does it on his own, not like the skyscraper one where atem is desperately trying to make kaiba cooperate and he's being stubborn. in that ep he just shows up on his own and starts helping and they're liek 'wah? what's going on? omg kaiba's alive!" just love it ;o;
i think scene is one of the things that motivates yugi to keep trying to be nice to him and keep believing in him and stuff. then next time they meet yugi runs up to him and is all 'thanks for helpin me, heres ur deck back' and kaibas like "k bye" and yugi's all 'but wait aren't we friends now? D:" and kaiba's liek "no." lol . then he beats up joey and i remember in eng version everyeon's of course mad at kaiba for that and i'm liek 'but dude jeoy physically grabbed him tho...." and that's why in our comics if u grab/touch kaiba without his permission u get smacked in the face. dont do that yo. i remember he did that in season 0 also when yugi touched him and i was like aah! see it fits how we wrote it! don't do that, yo!
but i remember in jp version after all that yugi is SO naive that he says 'were u trying to help him by showing him how strong pegasus will be?" or something similar to that and i'm like omg xD kaiba could set yugi's house on fire and yugi would be liek "he's a good guy underneath, i'm sure he had a reason' as he sweeps up the ashes xDDDD
but i'm rambling on :'D i love this show/these characters. sldkfjsdf.
