Description
Hit *DOWNLOAD* for a *FULL VIEW*Layered in Graphite (mech pencil) and Sharpie Marker. All originals done on 14x17 Bristol board paper.
These were done for my man Kasra. A new friendship was made from these commissions. Kasra, thanks for all the support my man. You have given me a new spring in my step with the ops and respect you have given me since we came to meet.
I had no idea who MODOK was until Kasra asked me to do these pieces. To my surprise he ended up being a very in depth fun character to work with. Originally I was to do one drawing in pen and ink, but I felt I could do a much stronger drawing mixing ink and pencil and here is what we got out of it. The commission ended up being 4 drawings of MODOK as somewhat
of a narrative, but not really. Each drawing was to show MODOK in different states of a confrontation so to speak.
1-MODOK smug and confident in his demeanor knowing he 'dah man
2-MODOK confronted with anger ticked off and ready to throw down and whoop some arse
3-MODOK frightened in realization he was about to get his arse whooped upon
4-MODOK beaten down in agony with a shattered ego

In a way I feel bad for George Tarleton. He has a head that takes up 90% of his body mass, short morbidly obese limbs and unable to do anything with his life except sit in a chair and complain about how heroes are always ruining his plans ( plus the fact that Modok: Superior is bald will send him over the deep end) while Leader gets all the villainnesses and leaves poor Mody with a very angry Red Hulk.

Sounds like you have a good idea the angst this bastard suffers from. Exactly what my friend who commissioned these wanted me to capture. No one knows MODOK better than the man that now owns these pieces. Look him up, Kasra Ghanbari, he has the largest original MODOK art collection on earth. creative + open + imagination = friendships. cool.
the faces are rendered with very bold, stark lines, and detail that adds depth rather than contributes to a flat effect. what i enjoy most is the surreal aspects of them -- look at certain parts of them and representation starts to crumble. excellent.

These are indeed fairly older pieces, I rarely look at these. Hmm, they are quite flat aren't they. Crumbling representation, not too clear on that description. Good points, kinda makes me cringe a bit now that I look at these again. Igg Uggh...

All this concepts of Modok are fantastic! The basic design of this Marvel's character is bizarre, but the nightmarish facial distortions you gave to him turns the character into an awesome new level. Favorited for sure!
