Description
This is a tentative transcription of an imaginary ANSI-based web browser opening on my own deviantART 's author page.It is not exactly what I'd have liked to submit for the ANSI contest, but scarce time resources forced me to take a more conservative approach, yet interesting since the careful watcher won't miss the "feedback" (or self-similar) effect generated by multiple instances of the same very web pages spawning one into anoter.

Text mode: 80x25x16 (8x16 font), VGA
Codepage: No. 437, Extended ASCII
Rendering: TundraDraw 0.5 ß1; old-style VGA emulation
History: Since the nature of the contest is strictly ANSI based, no alternative iCE colours, customized palette or font were used. If a deviantART page should be really rendered for MS-DOS text-mode screens (EGA/VGA), RGB/2 palette customization (allowing to choose the 16 displayable colours, both for foreground and background, among a total palette of 26=64) and font customization (complete redrawal of the 256 ExtendedASCII bitmaps in 8x16-pixels grids) would be employed.
Even up to 512 simultaneously displayable characters (instead of only 256, sacrifying the 8 "hi-intensity" foreground colours) could be triggered: using all these three features altogether a careful and appealing text-mode rendering of almost any non-photographic-based webpage could be viewed in small windows (due to the maximum 80 characters per row limitation).

Eh eh eh non ci sei molto lontano... l'ANSI art è nata proprio quando i computer non avevano quasi alcuna capacità grafica (e se ce l'avevano, era limitata a 4 o 16 colori, bassissime risoluzioni e ridottittime capacità d'animazione).
Così le BBS (antenati di internet) ed il software di utilità generica per il pc (word processors, database, etc.) usavano grafica ANSI per migliorare l'aspetto grafico delle modalità testo, in cui lo schermo non può essere manipolato punto per punto, ma solo carattere per carattere, con una limitata scelta di colori visualizzabili contemporaneamente (16).
Anche se molti non lo vedono nel loro pc, la modalità testuale esiste sempre ed è la modalità con cui tutti si avviano* (anche se spesso le schermate del BIOS del produttore, o quelle di caricamento del sistema operativo, la fanno scomparire subito).
Questa dev partecipa ad un concorso riservato solo per arte ANSI (cioè quella fatta con la grafica che usa i 256 caratteri e i 16 colori della modalità testo dei pc); mi sono chiesto come sarebbe risultata una pagina web del nuovo dA usando un browser internet in modalità testuale**.
* Se usi Windows prova ad aprire l'Interprete dei comandi e a schiacciare ALT+INVIO e la troverai (digita exit INVIO per uscire);
se usi Linux invece, digita ALT+CTRL+F1 (poi ALT+CTRL+F7 per tornare indietro).
** Anche se internet si è diffusa globalmente quando i pc avevano già discrete capacità grafiche ad alta risoluzione, esistono dei browser testuali fatti per pc con poche prestazioni (prevalentemente in ambito Linux), ma renderizzano solo il testo delle pagine, non il layout o le immagini web.
