I've been posting art of Tara here for over a year, but I have never really talked about her backstory or character... until now.

Tara is a Cat-Folk girl from a small fishing village called Lock’s Burrow (rather unfortunate for her since she hates fish) in the cold southern regions of Taelia. Tara has never been much for socialising, and large crowds make her anxious, so she is very shy and introverted. She would spend much of her time in the wooded fields and old ruins, reading stories of brave warriors, powerful magic and terrible monsters. She dreamt of being courageous and strong like the protagonists of her stories, instead of small and weak. One day while Tara was reading in the ruins outside Lock’s Burrow, the ground caved in under her and she fell into a chamber containing a large book on a plinth. That book turned out to be an talking spell book and as soon as Tara touched it, she became imbued with the magical power of the Guardians, an ancient order of magic users that sought to keep balance in the world and help those in need. Despite her fears, Tara was not the sort to back away from responsibility and accepted the role, so she took the book with her, naming it Fontaine.
