Description
Dug out another old pic (because I haven't done anything new lately .... blah blah blah). Couple of years back I was toying with the idea of picking up illustration work for RPG games. So I started putting together pieces to send off to Wizards of the Coast. They do D&D and also the Star Wars RPG. I drew this little one man starfighter to show that I could design new ships and still keep them "feeling" like they belong in the Star Wars universe. Did I succeed? Can't say for myself really ... I know everyone has their own idea of what "feels" Star Wars and what doesn't.Related content

It hits many of the star wars design features to the point I can easily imagine it in the pre-empire timeline.

Slick exterior of a Naboo ship, with enough rough mechanisms exposed to suggest this is Empire-era.

It has elements of the Jedi Starfighter from the Clone Wars and the A-Wing from RotJ. There is also something very "Swordfish-like" about it, referring to Spike Spiegel's fighter in the Cowboy Bebop series, perhaps the long snout. I'd love to see this developed further - eg: underside design, landing gear... would it be hyperspace capable, have torpedoes and/or secondary ion cannons, etc?

From what I can tell you haven't been on in a while. However I'd love to use this fighter in my own work. I've been drawing schematic drawings of Star Wars fighters as of late and I'd like to do one of this fighter. I would love to know if you have a name for this ship so that I can call it how you wanted it called. Even though there will likely be some minor changes but the ship will remain true to your design. I hope to hear from you soon. Oh and you will get credit for the original concept.

I don't know about "exactly" but very similar silhouette indeed! An accidental coincidence I assure you. Also, I originally drew this picture way back around 2001 before the Scifi series came out. I dug it out of a folder and scanned it to put it up here on deviant art because....well, when I first joined up here my gallery was very thin. Heck, it's still very thin. I need to put up more stuff. Heh.

Looks like a sweet combo of the Jedi Starfighter, the A-Wing, and the Naboo Starfighter.

Yeah dude, mission accomplished. I think it fits better than the three winged fighters found in the modern iteration of the saga.

I have had a similar notion about designing for Wizards, sadly they don't do Star Wars RPG any more to my knowledge. I really like the concept you have here. Very nicely done...

I one other, but I wasn't happy with it. Some day, I'd like to take a break from the 40k stuff I've been drawing and do a round of nothing but Star Wars ships. It's on my list of things to get to for my gallery here.

to me it has a feel of a Jedi Starfighter with some smuggler reconnaissances style ship.

Nice work. It feels like it belongs in the Star Wars universe. It looks better than an X-Wing.

I think you succeeded. It looks like a new or older Naboo model fighter. With the lack of many visible laser cannons and no visible concussion or proton torpedo launchers; I class it as a light, possibly outdated star fighter (the ship could have the launcher on the bottom of the hull, so my conclusion is not concise).
Either way, excellent drawing. I wish I could draw that well.

Cool, somebody finally took a Viper from Battlestar: Galactica and a Jedi Starfighter, ground them up in a compactor, and turned out this beauty of a ship. I would really have liked to have seen this in one of the Star Wars movies, looks like it could give some TIE fighters one hell of a probelm.

Really feels like something from the prequels. So yeah. This works for me. The design reminds me of Naboo. Don't ask why, because I don't know.
