I too like their looks, but I don't like driving through them

Yeah, I suppose that central pillar is always between the driver's eyes and the road signs. I've seen a lot of hot rods where the pillar is removed and simply replaced with a single pane of glass that's 'folded' at the split. That change ought to help a lot.

I have seen that too Hoyt, and it is probably better for driving... but somehow in my mind, it does not look as good on the vehicle. But I suppose with hot rods one needs to sacrifice, especially for safety.

Yeah, I was rather sad once when I saw a 1937 Pontiac with seatbelts retrofitted, but considering how many thousands of miles the owner had driven it, I could understand why he put them in.

Good tolls, and the knowledge of how to use them, does help a good deal. So does the indiginous artist's eye!

this is a really neat pic, I just bought a truck exactly like this, only mine got a good windsheild and no headlights, do you know what year this truck is, I can't figure it out, best guess I got is 52

this is not an area where I am very good. The trucks from 1947 to 53 are very similar. However, some of them have no-draft windows. Specifically the 51 and 53. This truck has no-draft windows... so I guess it is one of those two years. Sorry I can't be more help.

You are very welcome. I love old vehicles like this that are kept in the county out behind someone's home or barn. My dad and grandpa always did that and I never thought of taking pictures of them at the time. It's wonderful to view someone else's.

It actually did, thank you. Some wistful memories of my dad and my grandfathers farm. All the old equipment that I'd walk around & look at and try to figure out what in the world it was used for. It's funny, things look soooo big when you are a kid. Then when you go back as an adult, you can't beleive how different and unassuming all those things really are.... Just memories in a field of yellow flowers or tall weeds. But memories non the less. And yes, good ones.

Beautiful! He looks so thoughtful. He reminds me of a character from a cartoon "Cars" (the old racing car, I don't remember his name, but I love that character), maybe it's the same model or maybe because of the mood? - i'm writing weird comments today...
Great shot!
