Description This piece is very special to me because it convinced me that I could make something good enough that I would be proud to show other people, and now here we are!

Mewtwo is the very first 'serious' sculpture I made after reading Fantasy Creatures in Clay by @emilySculpts . I spent significantly more time and effort on this than any of my previous attempts of making something out of clay. It was certainly worth it and I am very happy with how it came out.

I learned a lot during the process and the final product was accomplished through a lot of trial and error. One of my favorite things about working with clay though is that it is very forgiving. You can just smush it and try again!

The pose is based on his entrance in Pokemon Stadium, but the rocks on the base are modeled after the platform he is standing on in Cerulean Cave in the first generation of Pokemon games. I always imagined this is what he would look like when you engaged him on his little island, ready to utterly destroy you and your team... until you threw the Master Ball and somewhat unceremoniously brought him under your control. I can't help but think that if Pokemon was designed for older kids that battle would have been a lot different!

Thank you for looking!

Materials:
18-guage aluminium wire wrapped with aluminum foil, wooden base (actually made from a scrap piece I found in the basement), Super Sculpey Original, Super Sculpey Firm, Rust-Oleum flat white primer, acrylic paint (mostly Delta Creamcoat), and Krylon Matte finish.

Of course, Mewtwo and all his awesome belongs to Nintendo.
