If I was cheating I would say Veenendaal, but if I wasn't cheating I would admit that it just tells that you are living in the netherlands as this photo has a very typical Dutch look to me.

So, now tell me...how do you know its Veenendaal?????? (or did you see my scraps?)

I told you if I cheated I would tell you it's Veenendaal... so I did have a look at your scraps, yes but after all it really looks like the Netherlands.

Have you ever been in the Netherlands? I just wonder.

Photo-Moe In reply to webworm [2005-11-02 17:54:24 +0000 UTC]

yes. Several times. To be honest - three times for a total of 6 weeks. However, the parts I've seen are wonderful. It is a bit like northern Germany, where I come from, but in parts better. I cannot judge your political thingies etc. but I can judge the beauty of the country and the way people behave. And I love the language and love'd to be able to speak it.

You mean you speak Dutch? Once I was in Berlin with a friend in a shop, I was talking Dutch and the man from the shop was talking German. I liked that very much, although I can speak German (had to learn that in school, but that was aaaaaaaages ago!!!)

Oh no no no... I really can't speak Dutch. I guess the only thing I can remember is "Ick hau va jau" (however you spell it) which is stuck in my mind as we did get it out of the Bravo whilst being on a classtrip in the Netherlands. Well, had a very good friend in Holland once and she tried to teach me some Dutch phrases but I failed... The good thing is that both languages are very similar as they have the same roots. Still, I WANT to speak Dutch as I have a general interest in languages and love to speak foreign languages!

Its spelled: Ik houd van jou. (most people just say: Ik hou van jou) I think its easier for a German to learn Dutch than the other way around, because of the grammar!! (I hated that in school! mit nacht nebst und sammt...... an auf hinter neben in...) Best way to learn a language is to go and live in the country for a while!

see... my spelling of that very simple sentence is extremly wobbly already. Well, at least I know one ESSENTIAL sentence Maybe... I never was in the situation of learning German as a foreign language so I have to believe you there And yes, it is a horribly confusing language... just wait for the day when I write my comments in Dutch (Yes... I believe in living somewhere else... or hitchiking throuh other countries..)

You wrote it phoenetical. Nothing wrong with that when you dont know a language. I travelled round the world too, its a nice experience to get to know other countries. And as you say: Free your mind!

haha good...! I think travelling around the world is just something neccesary for me as I find it hard to stay at one place and, not as much as staying at one place but stil a small matter, see the same persons every day. I need a change from time to time!

Its the only historic looking place in the town where I live! They like to break down history here! And I hate that!!! There are only a few old buildings left.

The building looks interesting enough for a closer view.
Is this in the town where you live?

webworm In reply to AdamsWife [2005-10-29 16:42:17 +0000 UTC]

Yes it is. All the pictures of this series were taken in the town where I live. I've taken more pictures of this church. I'll add them to my Scraps. Its a beautiful building and the inside is very nice too. I'll take some pictures of the interior. It used to be a Roman Catholic church, but it now is a Protestant church. The building next to the church (a museum now) used to be the house of the vicar. On Tuesdays and Saturdays there is a market here. On the right there are some shops and cafee's. The chestnut trees, they planted them a couple of years ago, are going to die because of an unknown illness.

Why are you ptting the close-up of the church in your scraps, it looks like it would be a very interesting building. Is it typically Dutch architecture?
Have you ever taken photos of the market.

webworm In reply to AdamsWife [2005-10-30 23:08:40 +0000 UTC]

Ok I will add it to my Gallery. Its a very nice building. I think its typically Dutch architecture. But if you want to know more about the church I'll have to look it up. I'll send you a note.
Yes I've got pictures of the market. I'll add them to DA.
