it implodes on the walls of your skulland slides, sickly
off your tongue
like the body of a slug.
when it hits the floor
it is not quiet,
not heavy
nor dull
but sharp as a slap
and totters out of
the room
suddenly,
they are disgusting
and you are ill.
there is no more room
for regret,
washed away by the slime
coming out of your pores.
the fault is yours

I really love this poem, the title is a bit misleading indeed, but that's just what makes it more intriguing and interesting. 
The poem is really great, as i said at first, intriguing and interesting, well-written, by reading the words i can really feel why you dislike the word, it has a rather unpleasant sound and meaning to it indeed. I just love it overall, well done and congrats on a DD!

yeah, no... this is pretty good but has nothing to do with Rimbaud, sorry. he was a poetic genius, his poetry rhymed and he worked with a whole lot more symbolism than this poem could offer. I mean, this poem is pretty good but you should learn to appreciate Rimbaud a little more.

well..i just said it reminded me of his poem, i didn't say it's really like that..
i know i'm not some expert to write great critiques, i just loved the poem and it's pretty great, but that's just my opinion. I didn't mean to make Rimbaud sound less great, this poem just..for some reason reminded me of his, i don't know why, it just did and i felt like saying that. I guess cause i was reading his poems lately.

that's ok, I just love Rimbaud a lot lol sooo... I don't really compare him to anyone unless it's something that *really* reminds me of his style and/or themes but I guess I can see that the author of this poem kind-of/sort-of did the same thing Rimb did in "Vowels"... I actually like this poem a lot, "slut," lol I think he/she did a good job but Rimbaud was talking about how the vowels look when they are written and is making a commentary on the Latin alphabet itself, its form and its shapes...

my fav actor is Leo DiCaprio and he played Rimbaud when he was young, in like 95 or something like that. the film isn't really that great, but Leo was still great and I was curious so I looked up Rimbaud and my heart just exploded with joy. I'd never really been that much into poetry before, but something about his poetry and the *honesty* behind it really made me love it. I have a collection of his poetry in French (his original language) and English, by a translator called Wallace Fowlie... it's the best translation, in my opinion, because it's a literal translation, so nothing of Rimbaud's genius gets misinterpreted. it's a little stilted for that reason, though. the best is if you know French to read the poems in French, that way they all rhyme and flow really beautifully. the Wallace Fowlie edition offers both languages, so if you could get your hands on it it's the best way to appreciate Rimbaud. he was definitely very rebellious, so a lot of his poems are very controversial and deal with heavy issues (religion, sex, drugs, poverty, culture, etc) but if you've got the stomach for them they're absolutely amazing. also, knowing a little bit of his background will help, where he was from and what the times and conditions of his life were like. he was very young when he wrote all his poetry, and stopped when he was like, 20. really interesting person and great art. school doesn't teach good stuff in great lengths, I know, I'm sorry, but that's what we have deviantart and the Internet for, I guess, lol.. good luck!
