Ah yes, it begins. This was my very first finished pony fanart (and like most of my early examples was a definite quickie and a true doodle), which I suppose must say something about me and my tastes, but I know my gallery wouldn't be complete without it. For people who are not familiar with my work I will confess I'm a bit inordinately fond of the Rarijack pairing, and ironically enough my first fanart of them is arguably the shippiest. But feel free to interpret this however you might wish... perhaps Rarity's had a bit too much to drink and isn't thinking clearly, as Applejack certainly seems to be feeling some trepidation.Made in Paint Tool SAI.

Ugh, somehow as with so many others I lost track of this comment and am now terribly late in replying to it, my apologies for that dear! But in answer to your question I must say that, intentional or coincidental or not, I have been enjoying the Rarijack "shipteases" of season three immensely so far, and if nothing else have been thrilled to see that Applejack and Rarity have indeed been confirmed as being very close friends! Hopefully, in the very near future I'll manage to get up another new inspired artwork or two as a result.

I interpret this as Rarity having had sudden realization of a certain mutual attraction while Applejack was visiting her late one evening, bringing out a more flirtatious side of her. And now she's feeling a bit more open about her not-so-subtle infatuation.
"Uh, Rarity? What in South Equestria do ya think yer doin'?" Applejack flinched as her close friend stood up with a devious glint in her eye.
"Oh lighten up dear, we've had such a wonderful evening. I don't see a reason for it to end so soon." Rarity spoke softly, approaching Applejack and placing a loving hoof to her cheek. "You're welcome to stay a bit later, that is, if that's what you want."
Nearly overwhelming nervousness boiled up from the strong earth pony's hooves, dragging her heart down into her stomach. She knew she'd be lying if she claimed there wasn't an obvious mutual attraction between the two, fueled by such strong chemistry. She choked up and took a step back, not quite sure what to say or how to feel.
Rarity closed her eyes, her warm muzzle softly brushing across her best friend's cheek. With soft sigh, she whispered, "Don't be nervous, darling. This is what we both want."
At least that's how I interpret what's happening in this image.

Ohh my! I am amazed by how many little "stories" some of my pictures have inspired in posts in the past, not that I am complaining of course. You present a very compelling scene, dear, and yes I suppose one that would work very well with this picture. ^_~

Haha, it's no problem at all. I always feel that my day is a little brightened every time I read a comment or reply from you, so I thought I'd try to offer something that might brighten yours a little. At the very least, I hoped that you'd be slightly amused for the moment.
As a matter of fact, I actually wrote an entire 5,000 word story based on one of your images. However, I'm not quite satisfied with it yet, so it's been sitting in my ever growing folder of Story Storage. Now for some reason I'm telling you all of this pointless information that ruins what I originally said, but I feel compelled not to delete this, so instead I'll copy paste the first part so it fresh in your mind when/if you reply.

I'm going with your interpretation...
Another interpretation here that I would think to go best here would be Rarity is trying to get a secret out of Applejack. But as seeing Rarity blushing ever-so-slightly, maybe it is perhaps a more secret of a secret than you could ever imagine in a quick situation, most unlike this.
But as a doodle, I'd say this is a really good one!

I honestly don't remember what I was thinking about when I drew this picture, or what scenario I might have had in mind for it, but I do think that if these two ever did harbor any sort of secret feelings for one another Rarity would probably be the one to make the first move... maybe not though. Incredibly cute drawing for a doodle. ^^ I love both of their expressions. Rarity's is more of a soft endearment, while Applejack's just seems to telegraph, "Uh-oh." Lol
I really like this pairing, too, bro. (Or sis, I try to make everyone happy. XD ) RariJack's my favorite ship, and I think a certain fanfic of ButterSch0tch's is partly responsible for that... xD
I also need to note here while I'm still conscious (oh so sleepy...) that I really like your style. ^^

Yes, I would indeed be a "sis" in this instance (haha), and as I'm sure is entirely obvious just by glancing through my gallery I am pretty fond of the Rarijack ship myself. I also blame a few choice fanfictions that I happened to have read upon first joining the fandom for converting me... they were just so ridiculously cute that it was hard to resist I guess.
And yes indeed, that was pretty much exactly what I was going for with both ponies' expressions so I'm glad that came across nicely! Thank you again for the words, I really do appreciate them.

Haha, well ironically the one that probably got me interested in the pairing to begin with, and that was before it even began to get shippy was "Strange Bedfellows" by Staeg Masque, which only recently began updating again after being on hiatus for a good six months I believe. It's an action story as much as anything, and the shipping is still primarily just being hinted at but it's quite entertaining all the same. "Diamond in the Rough" by AbsoluteAnonymous (which used my picture as a cover art, yay) is another one, though it's a relatively short oneshot, but the same author also has since written "Home Grown" which is hands-down my favorite Rarijack story I've read to date. It's not a shipping fanfiction in the traditional sense, and I would probably describe it more as a coming-out story actually, but it's beautifully written and incredibly poignant in my opinion, and I think AA did a great job with the subject. Lastly, "The Jewel of Reinsburg" by my friend ~FictionPony (aka DicePony) is also looking to be quite promising, though I'm afraid I haven't read the entire story yet... it seems to have been met with a pretty positive reception though, and I'd still recommend it.
Also, I really must apologize for my very late reply. I'm afraid I've been busier than ever in my non-pony life recently, and as such I've fallen a bit behind on some of my replies. Sorry about that.
