Description
I storyboarded out a small action sequence that I thought I could post here. This would be the opening sequence to a little story about aliens invading a library to set up a throne for their new world order. The nerds and old people in the library are the unlikely heroes called upon to save earth as all the muscled up soldiers, firemen, and stereotypical jocks are all trapped outside the building. This is just their grand entrance where they drill through the roof with their spiral stairs. Soooo, yeah just a bunch of made up goofiness, but I thought some of you might enjoy it all the same. Thanks for looking.

I think telling a story without explaining anything by words is somewhat difficult, you made it nice and creative!
I'd love to see how it goes on, great work!

This looks really, really cool! I love the idea of nerds and old people being left alone to save the earth.
The spinal stair drill is a genius idea!!
The only thing I don't like is the gun in the last panel, but I guess it's most probably pretty useless is in this situation...

Thank you. Yeah, the gun gets rendered useless in a hurry. Thank you for the positive and encouraging feedback. So glad you liked it.

I LOVE it! This could be a really cool animated movie! (The industry could use some new ideas...) I hope you're making big plans with this one.

Thank you. I really love animated movies. I must confess that it is a dream of mine to work on a story for an animated feature (all I've done to date is shorts).Β I hadn't thought too long and hard about what this story would be best suited for. Your suggestion is really encouraging to me. Maybe this could work. Thank you so much.

I really hope that your dream will come true!
In general, I love animation, too, but I don't like most animated movies because I find most of the stories disappointing. I've watched movies with almost perfect CGI or stop-motion animation, but all the effort that was put into the images couldn't hide the fact that most of these expensive productions lack a really good story. They might have some nice ideas in between, but they usually don't tell anything new and I can't connect to the characters.

For the most part... I totally agree with you. The story in most animated features is awfully recycled these days. The characters, which I think drive every good story, are even more recycled. The last inspired and original animated feature I can remember was perhaps Spirited Away. However, even the more mainstream and predictable films are usually entertaining to me. You're right in that some of these filmsΒ do have some "nice ideas in between". Even just getting that much right makes these films fun for me. I'd be really interested in hearing some of your favorites.

Sure, any movie can be entertaining, but most of the expensive blockbusters these days don't really stay with you. I'd cry happy tears if I found a new animated movie with lovable characters that are more than clichΓ©s, a thoughtful story and truly moving music.
One of my top favourites is "Mary & Max". Do you know it? It makes me laugh and cry all the time! As for traditional animation, I still like "Mrs Brisby and the Secret of Nimh" and Disney's "Robin Hood" a lot. The Toy Story trilogy are about the best CGI movies I can think of at the moment...

Yes I forgot all about "Mary & Max". That's a great one. I watched Robin Hood dozens of times growing up. That was one of my favorites as a kid. It still holds up really well. Some of the best character design by far.
I agree with you that most of these big blockbuster films don't really stay with you. I mean like really stick in your head and go to bed with you. It's been a while since a film had that kind of effect on me.

There isn't even any need for the directional arrows, your sequences are really clear at portraying the movement and flow of the story. Interesting concept, and storyline. I'd love to see more about this event.
