Uuuuhggg...beauty does NOT come in all shapes and sizes 'cause that Chonk-a-Tonk on the left has a nasty "smiley face" body.
And THAT'S sick.

Love the idea and message the picture says, and its just what this planet needs... freedom of choice, and no conformity

Women reaching for an unobtainable "beauty" This is why I hate the media... always showing off fake women. This is an amazing work and the thinking is genius. Kudos to you! ^.^

Goes to show that everyone is different, and special in their own way. Nice. A work of art indeed.

I find this to be a really clear cut message, and at the same time a very beautiful photo. I enjoyed looking at the collection of unique models, and not just referring to weight, but the first thing I noticed were the breasts. While Hollywood and Pornos portray this false image of what boobs are (evolved sweat glands LOL), it's nice to see a variation across the board. Everything about this image seems so well thought out, ethnicity, height, size, shape, ect. Was this piece something you had given some thought to by selecting your models, or was it more of a random selection from a population?
For a constructive comment, I keep being drawn to the empty white space between the sides, and while that could be symbolic in itself, I think if executed again more thought could be given to the use of space. I would like to have seen the models in the center rows towards the back. But then again, it's not necessary for the model to be upfront in your face, I feel it's more important as to what they are reading in this picture.
Congratulations on a beautiful work of art.

Ah, may I ask if there's a special thought behind this deviation?
At first notice, I think the freedom of choice concerning women is about abortion politics, but I don't think this is about it.

I think it's the choice of whether to conform to the image of what modern society expects of you, or just say "SCREW IT" and...don't

I'm guessing, but I think it means choice in being yourself.

I think some men should be in this picture... I would say why.. but I like the picture the way it is. I just feel like there can be more picture In some form of this with men. Like a suggestion for your next collection?

Just reading through the comments and that's a really good point. I was watching a Taboo episode on NatGeo here in the states, and it was all about body image. I never gave it much thought, but some men are just as obsessed with their image as some women are, specially when it comes to dieting and surgery.

I don't want to change this picture but the meaning that I perceive is behind this can transcend to both genders. Of course I want to see what this photographer would do with the men's picture like this. I hope it won't be an exact copy of this picture of this but with men. I know this photographer could probably come up with something really good. To really blow our minds..

Yes, and the ones who are can sometimes suffer worse, because they don't talk about it.

That is true. Mainly because they are men, women tend to talk about their problems.. men are expected to s*ck it up.

lol, i adore this picture <3
not only because 1. i'm a wee bit of a chubby chaser, and when i hear my lovers say "i've never heard anyone think of me like that" i just feel so sad, because people don't consider that others have feelings... i know it may not seem like they mind, but it simply breaks my heart to see, or hear people talking so rude about such a glorious thing.
sadly, society and regular people pressure women into doing some.. pretty sick things. sadly i myself am skinny, and damned my fast metabolism, i would put on weight if i could. but i do try <3
there is no real point in following what society calls as good or bad, because society has made some of the world into mindless drones, who, in turn, pick on other people for being different.
but how can that happen when from birth, we are told to be different?
it speaks out against the conformity of society and it's re-enforced sheep.
2. i adore this picture because of the contrast, like yin-yang. one side, is the, supposed "better" side, while the other side is frowned upon and considered bad. but where is the common sense if we cannot choose the good and the bad for ourselves?
everyone, is perfect, and in turn, this picture is perfect!
(sorry of my bad/long comment, i usually don't post this long so i tend to ramble)

And another thing, to all you people. Just because the girl is big, doesn't mean she's unique for showing off her body. A big reason to why she's that way is because she probably sits on her ass all day and doesn't go out and do something about it (yes, I'm being stereotypical. besides, it's the truth more than half the time anyways). All you people are saying is that laziness and hypocrisy is beautiful and attractive. Shame on you.

And for the record, I can see as many underweight people in this picture as I can see overweight; you don't have an opinion about the too skinnies?
π: 0 β©: 1
ellie In reply to Koyukionna [2010-05-04 13:24:55 +0000 UTC]
There aren't 'too skinnies' in this picture, for one thing. So no, I don't for this specific picture.
And you know what? Having a slow metabolism isn't an excuse. You should work around it. Change your diet and exercise. There are medications for it, too. So don't give me that bullshit.
And my own metabolism has already slowed, and guess what, I do things about it so I won't become over weight (:

Ellie, you sound like someone who's never been overweight and has never had to bother losing a lot of weight. If you've never been there, don't pretend you know what you're talking about.
I take the medication you're talking about- Levothyroxin, and I've made the same changes in routine as you mention. Even after all that, those meds only give my body the base requirement of TH hormone, enough to give my metabolism a tiny boost.
It may come as a shock to you that I and others like me don't have the time to devote ourselves to some fruitless weight loss campaign. The medication and lifestyle changes ARE my workaround, and it would be years before I'd be able to compare photos and see even a slight change.
And that's fine. Because of my "workaround," I'm healthier now than I was when I was a skinny kid with a "healthy appetite."
So don't pretend you know what you're talking about when it's clear you're just parroting someone else who didn't know what they were talking about.

Why don't you note I said MOST of the time, not everytime. Quit it with your self pity. I don't care to hear it.
And I have been overweight.. Now, I am not because of, well, exercise and a good diet. So why don't you quit with your martyrdom.

Why don't you note I said MOST of the time, not everytime.
Um, because you didn't.
Quit it with your self pity. I don't care to hear it.
Ellie, Ellie, ELLIE, I know you assume that every time a fat person opens their mouths, it's either to insert food or emit an expression of self-pity, but my dear, you're misinformed.
If you say something so incredibly stupid, someone should correct you, and that's where I stepped in.
And so, guess what! You got to learn something new! Cool, right?
And I have been overweight..
Sweetie, 5 pounds above 95 in total is not overweight.
Now, I am not because of, well, exercise and a good diet.
Uh huh. Now how about telling me the truth?

There are other reasons for obesity than just metabolism slowing. Sometimes gaining weight could actually indicate that they have a tumor in the brain.
