Lavenderpaw walked around the borders remarking them and checking for other scents. " Lavenderpaw, what do you smell?" mewed her mentor, Risingsun. "Rabbit, and some stale SnakeClan that drifted over the border." she thought. "Very good."
" You are getting very good at your tracking, Lavenderpaw." mewed her mentor as they padded into camp. "Go see to Yellowsky."

Lavenderpaw shivered. Yellowsky was one of the clans elders. Most of his denmates died, leaving him grief struck and grumpy. " Yes, Risingsun." She mumbled.

" Eh? Who's that?" Yellowsky crocked

" It's just me, Yellowsky."

" Oh, Lavenderpaw. I don't need your help, but I will tell you a story. A long time ago, before me, there was a battle of all four clans, lead by cats with too much ambition and not enough heart. StarClan punished them by making a mass flood sweep through. Only the cats loyal to the warrior code survived. BreezeClan lost a warrior, SnakeClan an apprentice, LightningClan a deputy, and NightClan a leader. It was then decided that we should not tolerate those who do not honor the warrior code."

" But what about me? My father was a loner, maybe a kittypet and possibly a rouge!"

" Lavenderpaw. Blood is not everything. We had a leader much like one in the story, and he banished my best friend because she fell for a kittypet. I will always remember her, but the next sun-rise, I found her body dead beside a thunderpath. StarClan was so sad, they sent a fox into our territory who mysteriously disappeared, after taking the last life of our former leader. It is not unknown that he walks in the Dark Forest, along with his son, Firefur, who killed a LightningClan cat named Lightclaw. He lasted thirty seconds before Lightclaw's mate, Wildflower, killed him."

" What is the Dark Forest?" Lavenderpaw puzzled.

" It's where you go if StarClan does not welcome you." Yellowsky mewed. " If I were you, Lavenderpaw, I wouldn't go to any place in your dreams unless there are stars above your head."

" Don't worry, Yellowsky, I won't."
