Thanks! I think he looks like a cross between the late great Roy Orbison and DEVO.

I think it was Erik Larson who wrote Spider man refering to Doc as 'Roy Orbison's Evil Twin'.

LOL! WOW! I dig Larsons work.

I love the graphic design-ish edge to this (also Ock's air of "meh, what're you gonna do?")

Thanks! Yer right; he looks a little arrogant.

PlushZombie [2007-03-29 05:03:51 +0000 UTC]

SERIOUSLY scary work there. Sure, Doc Oc is "misunderstood," but this perfectly captures his evil side. Truly, he is the nerd of nightmares.

I love that smile, by the way.

"Oh, these arms? Got them recently. Step a bit closer and I'll show you what they can do..."

I prefer the tubby, science dork look to Doc Ock you went with here rather than some of the beefed up renditions. Your drawing is excellent as usual, but I really dig that background - subtle but very effective.

BTW, the tentacles remind me of chainsaw blades - they don't need to get you with the claws, just squeezing you would rip you to shreds.

Cool, cool stuff, BB.

I never saw Otto as one who frequents the local gym as well!

jargonjones In reply to williamsquid [2007-03-19 00:11:16 +0000 UTC]

He was a bit like the original concept of Peter Parker in that respect. Both more science oriented and socially inept. Unfortunately for Otto, his accident made him go mad and even more socially inept, while Peter's accident had him eventually fornicating with an heiress and a model/actress.

Thanks! I was trying to make the tenticles gritty and industrial, instead of the segmented cylindrical chrome approach.
