I know my work is kind of all over the place at the moment. Bear with me.This is a 30 second nighttime exposure experiment with white balance adjustment.

I am really amazed by the overal hate comments on this piece, and the percentage of people that do abstract photography that make these comments

I personally have selected this piece because it's
1.) a very fine tribute to one of the most important abstract painters of the 20th century
2.) definitely not easy to achieve such a result straight out of the cam
3.) a statement for minimalism, which is getting bashed on deviantART all the time
I am aware that a lot of people disapprove of the forementioned reasons, but art isn't meant to please everyone. It's meant to evoke emotions and provoke discussion, but the discussion should always be fair.

Please don't leave hateful comments on the artist's work just because it's not your cup of tea. If you ever get a DD, I hope you don't have an awesome experience tarnished by people leaving mean comments. I hope you still have a good day, even though one of the DDs wasn't up to your standards.

I don't know you, so how could i hate you ? Using the word "shit" doesn't mean that I am a bad and trivial person... It means that this gradation to which you spent 5 minuts takes a place to another DD that have mighty derserved it, and much more than your image (that i see like a boring image).
But i like your other stuff.

why not learn to appreciate the opinions of others? its tiresome to see crap to be considered as something special just because someone found it amazing and everyone else stupidly amidst the euphoria jumps on the bandwagon. admittedly the guys gallery is superb, but this piece? seriously?

Please explain to me, how is that artist's fault? How RANTING will help to improve? If you have nothing constructive to say then just don't say/write crap, because to me it's not a valuable opinion. You obviously didn't get the point of my comment.
The artist DID NOT give himself a DD, so why bother leaving comments like that? Have something against a certain art being picked as a Daily Deviation? Go and rant somewhere else, there are people around DA who can take care of your "problem".

a fundmental principle of freedom of expression is to have the ability to say what you want wherever you want regardless how stupid or intolerable it may sound. your part of the bargain is to tolerate this. as an artist the reaction of others is EXACTLY how he improves his work should he deem it necessary to do so. regardless of as to who gave this guy a dd.. its obvious they just wanted to appear edgy and cool and down with the modernists.. people pretend that they "understand" the intention of the artist. truth is, theres nothing to understand, nothing to grasp , nothing to learn from art like this. in MY opinion, this particular piece isnt worthy of anything, isnt worth of even being called art. if you wish to congratulate the artist, give the DD to another of his pieces. hes gallery in MY opinion has much more to offer.

Seriously, I am aware that abstract art of any kind isn't everyone's cup of tea. But it's also not meant to please everyone. While I definitely agree that you're free to express your opinion on a certain piece, I refuse to be bothered with stupid assumptions about my personal intentions.
Read about Rothko's work. There's more to it than just painting coloured rectangles. And the featured picture makes for a fine homage to his work, especially because it requires skills and efforts to achieve such a result straight out of the camera.
