Bluekit sauntered up to Ruffledkit, who she called her future mate . Ruffledkit smiled as she approached him. They had promised their future together not so long ago. Finally, Ruffledkit spoke.
"Hey Bluekit, I want to show you something," he said nodding for her to follow him.
"Ok!" she said prodding after him.
Ruffledpaw led her through the woods until the made it to a bush.
"A bush?" Bluekit asked.
"Follow me," he said going inside the bush.
He led her through a tunnel under a bush until they seen light. He looked back as he went out of the hole. There they saw butterflies dancing from flower to flower, birds chirping a beautiful melody. A pool of blue water shimmered from the rays of a setting sun.
Bluekit, not sure what to say watched as the sun sinked over the horizon.
"Ruffledkit..........It's.........It's beautiful!" she remarked
"Just like you," he whispered to her.
They pressed their heads together and watched as the sun finally sank into the darkness of the water and the moon rose.
"We better get back to the clan," he said realizing it was late.
They made their way back and ran to the den. At least their mothers were best friends and supported the relationship Bluekit and Ruffledkit shared. At least this wasn't a secret. They curled up together on a strip of moss and fell to sleep.

Ruffledkit's light amber, kit eyes popped open. He looked beside him. Bluekit wasn't there. He looked around the den and not even a lazy kit was in sight. He heard gasps and cries of sorrow outside of the den. He rushed out and tore through the crowd of cats. He couldn't see Bluekit anywhere. He seen two of his best friends, Dreamkit and Pumpkinkit sitting there with tears in their eyes. He finally made it to the middle. There laid a mangled, bloody, blue-gray body.
"W- what happened," Ruffledkit asked Dreamkit quietly.
"I'm sorry Ruffledkit. I-I-It was a hawk. Bluekit,Pumpkinkit and me were playing and a hawk swooped after me. Bluekit jumped in the way and the hawk ate her in the middle of the clearing. I-I," she stopped talking because it was drowned out in tears.
Ruffledkit couldn't believe what he was hearing. This couldn't be true. Then he looked into the eyes of the dead cat. Bluekit's sky blue eyes stared back at him.
Ruffledkit looked up to the sky and screamed "STARCLAN!!!! WHY DID YOU TAKE HER? SHE DIDN'T NEED THIS!" he burst into tears and ran into the nursery. He felt like he'd never come out.
