Description
The long winter and stormy spring has left an unusually high number of coots stranded here. There are four in the pond in back, four more at the East Lagoon on NIU campus, and four more again at the retaining ponds in front of Walmart. Furthermore, I've often seen them on land feeding this season, and they're acting far less shy than usual (though still pretty skittish), allowing me to get closer than ever, and thus much better shots and video.
