“Why?!” Plasmius demanded, glowering at the boy in front of him. “They’ll never accept you like I can, Daniel! Why are you fighting for them?!” Danny frowned at Vlad, an unreadable look on his face.

In his mind’s eye, he saw his mother and father; the goofy parents who would accept him no matter what. He saw his sister, the meddling, over-protective girl who helped him whenever she could. His friends, the faithful companions that stuck by him, and everyone else he’d come to care for in his life…

“Why?” Danny repeated, charging up the Thermos. “Because I love them.”

I reeeeeally like how this one turned out... I wanted to portray all the people Danny loves, not just one or two. He's a very passionate person, so it irritates me a bit how people are tying him down with all that 'I-only-love-you' crap. Even though Danny will eventually pick one girl or another to be with, he still has many people in his life he would love just as much as them, just in different ways. People seem to forget that nowadays, and lump love in as just being a romantic feeling.
