Just for the record I hate that song, but it honestly was the only thing that fit with both the picture and a little something I want to get off my chest…WARNING; LONG, ANGRY RANT! DO NOT READ IF YOU CANNOT KEEP AN OPEN MIND AND/OR IF YOU’RE THE KIND OF PERSON WHO REFUSES TO ADMIT THAT OTHER PEOPLE’S VIEWS AND OPINIONS HAVE VALID POINTS THAT DESERVE AS MUCH RESPECT AS YOUR OWN!
This was drawn in response to several rude reviews I’ve gotten about Valerie on Blackbird, not to mention a piece I saw some D/S shipper do where she called Valerie a ‘Fat Chick.’ As I’ve said a million times before I don’t ship, but comments like that REALLY tick me off. I’ve never seen Valerie as fat. Honestly, I think she has a very respectable figure…
And even if she is heavyset, what right do they have to mock her for it? She’s clearly in top physical form from what we’ve seen on the show, and she’s a beautiful and confident young woman who still hasn’t reached her full adulthood yet. It’s like Obi said not too long ago in one of her journals; The media is giving us such an unhealthy and unattainable opinion of what we should look like in comparison to what we do, and far too many people are encouraging those views with sick comments the like aforementioned.
The thing that annoys me most is the fact that there are so many comments like this from so many D/S shippers, whereas most D/V and even D/P fans I know are completely respectful in comparison. I’m not saying that there’s aren’t rude D/V or D/P fans out there, but there in the vast minority when you compare them to all the fans making rude comments about the other females on the show just because they’re a threat to the D/S relationship.
Don’t get me wrong, I do like D/S, and I’m in no way blaming the D/S fans out there who actually take the time to be courteous and respectful of any wrongdoings. I know many people both here and on FF.net who avidly support the D/S relationship that are friendly and fun to talk to, and I’m not trying to alienate any of them. I just want all the ones who think there’s so high and mighty to come down a bit…

That's what Obi and I were saying when we were talking about it a few days ago. I mean, the girl's a ninth degree blackbelt constantly training and fighting ghosts, obviously she's pretty fit. And like I said, why should that comment be any less uncalled for even if she was?

Amen! I know what you mean, I'm a very 'supportive' D/S shipper you could say but what you said about someone saying that she was 'fat'... that sorta struck home. You see I'm a little bit heavy set (not a lot but still) and I get crap about it from a lot of kids at school and also how I dress. So I totally support whatcha said! and just 'cause of those statements... *faves*

I never considered Val to be fat o_o I like her physycal structure actually XD And she's such an athlete, I myself, i'm more of a D/S shipper, but I also support D/V, but I have a different vision of Valerie, that's why I usually pair danny with Sam the most. I love Valerie, she's such an awesome character, so independent and strong *____*
So yush, I'm kinda disappointed those kind of shippers give respectful D/S's a bad image

Agreed. All the connon pairings have pros and cons about them that make them fun and interesting to write about, and character bashing is nothing but rude, disrespectful trash of close-minded people. Especially when you start bashing a FICTIONAL character's WEIGHT.

Agreed, I just think it's plain silly, and above all, pointless. They're wasting their breaths and while they do that they also get on the author's nerves :/ Why can't they accept Valerie? She doesn't need to be a stick to be pretty, she has her own charms, and she also has a different personality than other characters. Most importantly, like all the female characters in DP, she has faults, which make her an awesome character. I wouldn't like to have a 'perfect' caracter, that'd be just boring .____. which brings me to ask "Why bash? Would you rather have a perfect, lil Mary-Sue to be paired up with your precious little Danny chums?"

I'm a D/S shippper......but I've never thought of Valerie as fat either. She's a pretty cool character, and if I didn't totally go for D/S, I would go for D/V. but in truth, I really don't care: I think Danny and Valerie would make a great couple, just as great as he and Sam.
And Valerie's not fat!

I think that Valerie is the only one on the show with the right body. I always thought she had an athletic body and that she had a lot of muscle. Not fat. In all honesty, I think Sam looks a bit too thin. I don't ship anyone in particular, because I usually ship them all (if that makes any sense...
As for the drawing, I love the little bubbles and how much it really looks like they're underwater.

I find it really sad when people knock off characters like that for whatever reason. One of the reasons I like your stories is the fact that you keep an open mind in that area. In fact, I think that it was when I had first read your stories that I got into the whole diverse pairing thing. And I think I enjoy those the most now. So thanks!

I don't think that Valerie's fat, just that she has a different build. Personally, I like that variaty. Can't mimick it well when I draw her, but I do like it.
I've always liked D/S and D/V. They're both interesting, even though I tend to write more D/S...
As for this picture, it's beautful. Drawing people kissing is hard, so I love seeing good kisisng pics! And Val's experssion is cute. n.n

I completely agree with you. Even if Valerie does weigh a bit more than the other girls on DP, that doesn't mean she's fat. Actually, I think that makes her more beautiful than Paulina. Aside from that, that could be muscle.

I read a few comments like that.
I saw someone draw a picture and say that they made Val thinner because they didn't like how fat she was. But, If you take a look at the actual show her weight does very a lot. She looks thin in her suit but then she gets her normal cloths on she looks heavier.

As a gal on the heavier side of the set spectrum, I take offense to whoever made that comment and make note that they probably arn't a swimsuit model themself.
I actually liked the Danny/Val relationship. It actually started to go places. They cared, they were sweet, there was that whole fun drama of her liking Danny even while she loathed his ghost-half, but never realized she was out to completely destroy her beau... That's classic stuff!

Agreed. Val is not fat. Just because you can't put some girl's waist in a handcuff doesn't make her fat! Awesome pic, by the way. I'm more DxS myself, but DxV is cool too, from the fighter/fighter mentality and all the passion. And as a firm DxS supporter (though not myself guilty) I would like to apologise on behalf of any fellow fans for rude comments. (Mostly because they WONT apologise.)
