Description
A comic series I’m going to be doing loosely based off of Avatar. It takes place in an AU world that is split off into four Lands and a Spirit World, and each Land has two sets of ‘Masters’ based off of their reigning element. For example, in the Land of Earth you have Stone Masters and Plant Masters, whereas in the Land of Water you have Water Masters and Ice Masters.

However, there are four people in the world (One from each Land) who are born with the ability to control not only all of the elements, but even the spirits of the dead themselves. These people are called Spirit Masters, and they’re easily the most respected and feared Masters in all the Lands. Above is the concept design for Danny for the comic. He’s about sixteen for the story, and is the Water-born Spirit Master. And I gave him a braid because I can. (Getting a little bored with ponytails…)

This is just a crude attempt at the style I’m planning on using for the comic, which is kinda a cross between a lot of different styles all at once. I’ll be making some adjustments for the final piece, since there are some things here that are bothering me. And since any and all attempts to color this have fallen horribly short of my personal expectations, I’ve decided to direct from a distance as far as that aspect goes. ~JohnRose is in charge of coloring, considering how impressed I was with the inking practices he did for me. Plus, to keep everything in one place, I’m probably only going to submit the Character Studies under my account here on DA, whereas the comic itself will all be under his account.
