Description
A few pieces of Inner Space light artillery, for both the Marbanian Empire and the Tambrian Confederacy. These are all relatively light, close-support weapons used by infantry units at battalion level to bolster their firepower, as opposed to being found in dedicated artillery regiments.
The Tambrian MU-75 Light Rocket Mortar is based on the real life 10 cm Nebelwerfer 40 . The calibre is similar, 7.5 parme or 75 hatte, equivalent to 10 cm.
The Tambrian OU-100 Light Recoilless Howitzer is roughly based on the late WW2 8.8 cm Raketenwerfer 43 Puppchen crossed with the 380 mm Raketen-Werfer 61 L/5.4 of the Sturmtiger. It fires 10 parme /100 hatte (aprox 13 cm) shells with a separate brass cartridge. The standard (ordinary) HE shell has internal segmented inserts to give a measure of controlled fragmentation, which is why a dedicated shrapnel shell is not available.
The Tambrian TAU-18 Automatic Cannon mounted on the dedicated low-profile "Light Field Mount" for use against infantry and lightly armoured vehicles is patterned on the real-world Madsen 20 mm AA Machine Cannon M/38 . The calibre is 1.8 parme /18 hatte (aprox 2.4 cm) and two of them are used in the AA role by the Tambrian Army VAAB -50/18 armoured anti-aircraft vehicle.
The Marbanian 60-MA-41 Light Automatic Mortar ("60 hatte - Automatic Mortar - Model 41", according to Marbanian Army terminology) is based on the real life 2B9 Vasilek 82mm mortar.
The caliber is 6 parme / 60 hatte (aprox 8 cm) and the mortar uses clips of four projectiles each loaded from the left of the weapon.
The number "41" refers to the year the weapon was designed, 241 since landfall according to the Inner Space chronology.
The Marbanian 75-TI-37 Light Recoilless Howitzer ("75 hatte- Close-support Gun- Model 37") is closely based upon the WW2 German 10.5 cm Leichgeschütz 40. Calibre is 7.5 parme / 75 hatte (aprox 10 cm) and the weapon shoots shells with a separate brass cartridge.
The Marbanian 18-TAI-36 Automatic Cannon ("18 hatte - Automatic Close-support Gun- Model 36") is based on the Soviet/Russian KPV-14.5 heavy machine gun, but of a much larger caliber, 1.8 parme /18 hatte (aprox 2.4 cm).
It uses exactly the same ammunition as the Tambrian Automatic Cannon, because the ammunition standard had to be approved by the Central Ecclesiastical Technological Division of the True Church, which regulates most of the Inner Space's technological progress, so it's always easier to adapt a weapon to an existing standard than to try and create a new one. This might be done for a larger gun, but was not deemed necessary for a small calibre automatic cannon.
The same goes for the colouring of the ammunition, which is standard for both armies and detailed in the key. Filling and warhead differences are detailed through coloured bands on the shells.

When I clicked on this, I thought that by "Inner Space" you meant "low earth orbit".
Still, very impressive.
