Set mid-winter 2023.
Eazam hated winter in the Known Wastes, and there was little more to say about that. As the oncoming storm blew in, she flattened her ears against its biting chill. She had more than a few scalding remarks about the circumstances, although she worried that opening her mouth would result in her tongue freezing right off. Though the fur around her scruff was dense and kept her warm enough, the trader wondered not for the first time why she hadn't hunkered down in one of the settlements along her route. Something about being the one still out, braving said storm, meaning that she was likely to scavenge a good haul before some other nobody could stick their nose in it... If, of course, Ezza survived long enough to see it. One curse joined another in the vexed stream of consciousness as she plowed on. It was fine. If she could live through that first winter, she could live through this one too. At least this time she knew just how frigid the world could be.
