Description
Saw this pic and her description, wanted to color it in (and practice light sources and stuuuuuff).I super duper appreciate that even when it's simple line art, she's very careful with the angles and placement of fingers and person etc to be consistent and look nice. I must emulate!
Go to her line art: [link]
The story behind it is in the description.

That's awesome! It positively shimmers! EEEE! (Excuse me one minute while I go do a happy dance.
)
OK. I've calmed down.
This is so fantastic! (Hmm, maybe I've not calmed down.) Yes, yes, yes! You captured with colour exactly what I was picturing in my head. The light source is the icicle, since Crys is using awesome magic powers on it to make it spin really fast to drill through the rock, and two things we know come from energy--heat and light.
It's actually a tricky source to do, since it's spinning, the light would be shooting out from all directions at different intensities. The basic trick to doing good lighting is to figure out that where the light hits something, it stops. So the bottom of Crys' right arm is lit up, but the top is in shadow.
The harder trick is the different intensities, and you figured that out too! So some light is brighter, than others--like that bright sheen on Crys' left shoulder, and the paler bits of light fading away behind it.
What I particularly is how the light defines his cheekbones, and keeps his eyes in dark shadow. Makes him look all eerie and mysterious. You textured the light really well--small dots of detail for the face, and smooth lines for the hair--'cause when light hits different textures, it shines differently.
There's just so much coolness in this picture
I didn't even yet mention the translucency of the rainbow playing over Crys' shirt and hands. And that's the best part! Gee, no wonder Pyrita was enjoying the show! I think even Crys would approve of this colouring job.
you're the best!

I was paying so close to the little details, I didn't notice that the whole thing is encased in a glowing sphere that narrows the focus to the action! Fantastic effect! Wow...this picture looks good close up and far away. That rarely happens.

Ooooo, Crys!
This kind of reminds me of Skittles commercials they had some years ago, where the setting (don't remember exactly what it was) was kind of gray, and then some sort of rock thing opened up and out came this bright rainbow light and Skittles.....if that happened here, I could see Pyrrita being very happy

Giant skittles...yeah that would make Pyrita's day. Though it doesn't take much to make her day.
