The comics used gradients in addition to shading, so I'm not quite there yet. But thanks regardless. Spotting blacks is something I have been hesitant to do until recently, but I'm getting used to it.

I wouldn't say that; the comic's art uses gradients sure but your coloring pops out more. It's more interesting to look at in my opinion, it's a style that could fit in with the comics easily while also being unique. However if you're not satisfied then keep pushing to reach your goal. C:
Yeah; bold, black, shading takes some getting used to. It's also not as simple as slapping black down in darker areas, you gotta be careful where you put it otherwise you might end up over saturating the picture.

Interesting to see how Gar's body language and expression makes him skeptical about Snakey here, while Snakey himself has a giddy little prideful smile. From what I've seen, usually it's the other way around, heheh. Guess that's the downside of being attached, you can't get away from eachother for a little peace
Let's hope Snakey doesn't accidentally bite his tongue off now lol

Actually they can, they just don't choose to; Gar can always remove the ring, and Snakey can always retreat into the ring when necessary

Oh really? Well, the first thing that comes to mind, is the facial expressions. On both Gar and Snakey.
It's also the colors. For the lack of a better word, they seem a bit more "moody" for some reason. Like a warm sunset if that makes any sense.
