Description
Cactuars (Or Cactrots if you had an SNES) are a reoccuring enemy in the Final Fantasy series. This one here is a test I did to see how well I can mold and cast something with a lot of right angles.I still have the mold for this guy- if there's enough interest I'll make more and put them up for sale.
EDIT (8/20/13): I will begin making a bunch of these and selling them when I get some downtime. Check back here in a month or so.
EDIT (7/5/14): It took forever, but they are done. wmvmetalsmithing.deviantart.coβ¦

You as well. I enjoy your "minion" series.

Do you have like an Etsy shop for these or something?

Not yet, I've got 3 waxes of these which I'm going to get ready for casting soon- probably bronze or brass.
I'll most likely post a journal entry once they are done, but if you're interested I can contact you via note once I put them up.

I finally got some time to get these things cast:

I'll be cleaning them up and posting them next week. They will be in brass and bronze, probably $30 to $35 each. (Depends on how much time it takes to finish them.)

Good to know. My girlfriend wants to get a cactuar tattoo. I think she'd like one of these.

And by "next week" I actually meant "whenever stuff in my studio stops breaking long enough to get work done."

Finishing is next, afterwards I'll photograph them and post them on Etsy.

This is really cute! So you melted the metal and poured it into a mold to make this?

Yup! And then soldered it to a base.

This one specifically is a prototype that I'll be sending to a friend of mine. However, I do plan on making more since people are interested.
They will be anywhere between 20 to 30 USD for bronze, and I can't say how much for sterling silver. (The price goes up and down- so it'll depend when I buy the metal.)
If you'd like, I can send you a message once I get my shit together.
(Or just watch my journal, I'll post an update when I make some for sale.)

Nah, it;s okay. It was originally intended as a joke. I can't afford anything as it is, being in debt and all. NOT as fun as it sounds! Lol
But good to know that you'll be marketing them. I'd also like to encourage you (as a suggestion) to possibly create prototypes of other Final Fantasy mascots (i.e. Tonberry, Pupu, Chocobo, etc.) Just a thought from one enthusiast to another.

I hear you- Student loans suck.
Also, funny you should mention that- I'm actually in the planning phase of sculpting a Lavos figure around the same height as this one.

Had to think about that for a bit, probably around the 20 to 30 dollar region for a bronze one, and I can't say for sure about silver. (The price of silver fluctuates a bit.)
I'll post an update here and on my journal when I get some downtime and start production, so check back over the next few months.

That would be useful. I would indeed like to have one, but it depends on when I can afford it. Price guides will certainly help me to see what is left after budget!
