Description
The Saks (also Sax or Seax) was the mark of a freeman, or Karl in many ancient Germanic societies. You would wear it on the front of your belt, use it for myriad day to day tasks, or even defend yourself with it should you need. Many have been found with runes carved upon their hilts or scabbards, but few have ever been found with runes upon the blades, the most famous of these is the Seax of Beagnoth or the Thames Seax.
