Battle Cry: For the Mantis Sisterhood, For the Solar Empress!

Early History: The Mantis was created from the White Scars@ Space Marine chapter, where they was a normal chaper by Codex Arstares standards. By the time the chapter had to abide by the Empress's Edict, the chapter itself found itself lucky twice. The female initiates that they had to recuit came mostly from Lasla, whose unusual circumstances, had a large number of tall, Amazonian women. In addition to that, The Mantis was able to recieved The Empress' geneseed. This powerful combitnation created some of the tallest female Arstares (around 9 feet) that live in the Federation.

Over the years, the Mantis warrior began to absorb more and more of this fierce amazons into their ranks until it was notice that the chapter had nearly as much females as they did have males, something that not even the most liberal Space Marine chapter had done. Naturally this make the Mantis very popular when they join the main armies of the Federation.

Like many female Arstates, The Mantis have their won traditions, but Mantis tend to be more extreme than more, especially since they are so big. One a year, the The females Mantis warrior go on a "Manhunt." a ceremony that is similar to the one that occurs on their home feral planets.
