Description A photo of some rather nice clouds at sunset, taken with a digital camera (BenQ DC1300). I made this one available as a wallpaper (1024x768) because it looked to me like it would make a nice "sky" wallpaper.

This is rather nice! I particularly like the way that you've combined the sunset pink tones of the clouds with the standard "blue sky with clouds" concept, to create something a little bit unusual (at least in my experience) for the genre. The deepening blue toward the outside edges (at least on the top and two sides) is a bit unusual, and for long-term viewing (as in a wallpaper situation) I like the look better than the vivid "noon sky blue" found in many straight "blue sky with puffy clouds" images, whether photographic or computer generated. I find it more soothing to the eyes.

That's the good news; the bad news is that this particular image has a particularly severe case of "JPEG jaggies", and if this is the quality of output your camera creates, you will definitely want a better camera in the long run, when and as your finances will allow. In the meantime, you may also want to try running any output image which has this level of jaggie problem (from the JPEG compression) through a Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro filter designed specifically to remove JPEG jaggies of this type. If you don't have access to such a filter you may want to see about getting a copy, if you can, and if you can't, you may want to experiment with other filters to see if you can use a blurring and re-sharpening technique to reduce the JPEG jaggies, even if you can't eliminate them completely.

You might also want to know that there are some very low-end cameras out there (price-wise) which don't compress their output JPEGs, or use a compression level of 1. It makes for larger files, which fill up the camera memory faster, but it should avoid this kind of mosaic effect in your images. In the long run, though, I think you'd find a higher-density camera very rewarding, given the type of photo you like to take. And I know, as a viewer who enjoys your photos, that *I* would certainly find it very rewarding.

Keep at it, I look forward to seeing your future works!
