caroline was her original personality, and as time went on she built onto that personality with an artificial one that developed over time. eventually, the robot body she was in had corrupted her original personality so much that it was nothing more than a voice in the back of her head, which got drowned out by all the other voices of the cores that were implemented onto her. I feel like... if had to have Caroline back, she could. it's sort of like she deleted caroline but she didn't empty the recycle bin, y'know? so she's not completely gone.
